Random pic thread.

Dang it is close I would say! Without looking back at pictures, pretty sure the one my sister had was a single front windshield. Plus the front bumper was different. The mods to that one definitely are not out of the realm of it possibly being the one I started though. Did you get any more pics of it?

EDIT: nevermind, I googled pictures of it, definitely not the same bus, but it's for sure pretty close!

Saw this on the 67-72 chevy truck page
Small world. I built a 62 step side years ago. Went to 67-72 and got ideas. Made a lot of friends. In fact, met up with one last week at the Denton farm for a truck show. He owns 73-87chevytrucks.com and brought his twin turbo LS swapped 86.

Happened to coincide with the rummage.....err I mean pickers festival (that MF was HUGE too...so much jun....err antiques... in one place)

Tekton has become one of my go-to brands for hand tools. Better than box store but not tool truck IMO. And they do make a some of their tools in the USA like pliers, screw drivers, specialty wrenches to name a few.

yeah we were there w some "stuff".

Took a road trip today to pick up some jeep parts. Made the mistake of taking I-40 westbound through the Pigeon River Gorge. I expected some delays, maybe 10-15 minutes, but traffic was actually great until about 2 miles from where it goes back to 4 lanes and then came to a COMPLETE. STOP. FOR 2 FULL HOURS. Based on what I gathered from the couples of cars moving slowly and eventually stopped on the eastbound side (yes, eastbound came to a complete stop too for the last 30 minutes I was there), a dump truck had a flat tire, and instead of limping along and getting out of the way, he decided to block up the single lane interstate. After about an hour, I hopped out, crossed the eastbound lanes, and check out the Helene damage from the river.

As you can see, I’m standing on what used to be the left hand eastbound lane. The right hand lane and emergency lane and any shoulder that used to be there is gone, washed somewhere out to middle Tennessee.

I can’t even imagine how much water it took to do this.

Once we finally got moving again, a mile or three later, I saw this section that really gave some perspective on the scale of damage.

Absolutely humbling how powerful the storm was, how much has been done, and how much is left to do.

Once I finally got off 40, had a beautiful drive through middle of nowhere mountains and hills and fields of Tennessee. And the Bush’s baked bean factory with their sweetass water tower

Got the goods, and had an uneventful drive home. Except I skipped the gorge on i40 and took 129 instead. Yes, that 129, Deals Gap, Tail of the Dragon. In my Ram 2500 with a pair of axles in the bed. Best (and most disappointing) part is that I ran the length of it and not a single car or bike caught up to me. Ol truck was railing, and I actually caught and got stuck behind a guy on a BMW sport tourer that thought he was going pretty fast haha. Can’t wait to see the photos online from the Dragon photographers.

Also tried to run my truck out of fuel to get cheap diesel in Morganton, but even at 40 miles past “zero” it still only took 29.5 gallons in a 31 gallon tank.

And saw something interesting. Big pile of debris and mulch in Swannanoa this morning. Big fire this afternoon when I came back through.

Overall an eventful and productive day.
