I don’t really like his music so there is that. My girlfriend said it was better than she expected.

But both opening acts were TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!im taking if either one played another couple songs they Would have been told to get off the stage. I think the second act was drunk because he wasn’t saying words, just mumbling. And each had 45 minutes gaps between the acts and it was about the same before Tyler Childers started they had the stages changed out in about 10 minutes each time.

Also nothing to do with Tyler Childers, but the arena was small but I think the worst was everyone choked down 3 packs of cigarettes as they were coming in and by 9 I had a sore throat from all the cigarette and vape pen smoke INSIDE the arena.

I'm struggling to remember, but I'm thinking around 2014? That place was a lot of fun. I made numerous trips there.

He was the best of the three for sure. There was something up w the audio in that place. Don’t know if it was the acoustic of the building or what but we couldn’t understand much of what the first two were saying.

And that is exactly why I don’t care for live music. Only reassures me why I don’t go.

We go to quite a few concerts and w some exceptions they are all good. We went and saw David Allen Coe back in September/October and he was by far the worst. 35 min set, did about two versus of each song w/o stopping in between,said thanks and good night and left.No encore or anything.

Hell no. If that place floods everyone is dead. And I like seeing the sun before 10am.

Also thought it was weird how the town was basically a bunch islands cut into the rock between the river and cliffs

I’ve been to and thru Pikeville probably 25-30 times that whole area is like that. I’ve pulled some good stuff out of them hollers.From what I am understand flooding use to be a real problem there, not so much now.

I saw The Eagles several years ago in Greensboro. Best concert I’ve ever been to. Short of a few Christian Music concerts, I don’t care to go much. I don’t do well in large crowds, and obnoxious drunk people. More of a personal preference.

When I saw The Eagles, I was high up in the nose bleeds, sweltering hot elbow to elbow but it was still great. Maybe it was just nostalgia getting to see such a great group. I really enjoyed it.

Many years ago I saw Corey Smith at Ziggys in Winston. It was a crowded, relatively small venue with drunk people everywhere, few people trying to start fights, and I couldn’t hear anything hardly. That was when I decided I really didn’t care for going anymore.
 
I've dealt w the public for most of my adult life and have a very low tolerance for stupid people,esp in large numbers.I don't wanna smell the dope your smoking,I don't wanna have to stand up to see whats goin on when I paid for a seat,I don't wanna deal w a bunch of drunks and I don't wanna hear your "old lady" runnin her drunk ass whore mouth.I paid just like you did.It'll probably cost me an ass whoopin one day but Im gonna call ya out on it.W all that said its hard for me to have a good time anywhere.Some of the best shows we've been to were strangely enuf at a biker bar.

as we were driving in and see old strip mines i was thinking id like to come back here and see how the bird hunting is. im sure them people dont throw nothing away, just move it back further up on the mountain.

Yes and no.I know a couple of guys who live over there and oxy's and meth are pretty bad.Back when metal was bringing good money a lot of stuff got pulled out of the weeds,whether the owners wanted it to or not.Modern trucks don't last over there,too much coal dust and mud.You can get good lo mileage hard parts but forget about finding a rust free truck bed.

I've heard this very story about him many times over the past 15 years, which is why I'd never pay to see him play.

I think the worst show I ever saw was Everclear (yeah, I know) at The Ritz in about 1996. A friend won tickets but we left after the lead singer kept insulting the crowd.

I grew up going to live shows and music festivals and it's something we've instilled in the kids. There's something magical about what musicians do in the moment that is just different than when it's recorded.

Other than the bluegrass festival and the few years July 4th was in DT Raleigh, we had to take a break from going to shows with littles, but got back to at least a few a year when we can get a sitter.

One of the best shows we've ever seen was Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats at The Ritz not quite two years ago.

The best was Rhiannon Giddens at Memorial Auditorium, also almost two years ago.
 
Its a shame because DAC has gone complete 180.
We saw him in Rock Hill in 95 or so...he played his ass off. Show ended he did an encore and basically did a whole extra show.

My BIL (RIP) had an awesome story when he lived in OH...he was a huge DAC fan. They lived in a small rural town and DAC played a local bar. The only bar within a solid hour drive. His mom was going to take him but they wouldnt let him in cause he wasnt 18. Somehow his mom got a hold of DAC and they gave him VIP access despite the venue owners protests.

My son wanted to see him a few years ago and we went despite all the warning. His health was so bad. His show short. It was sad.

I will say this even bck in 95 he played almost every song like a mashup going seemlessly one to the next without ever fully finishing any of them

Back in 92ish when me and Tonya were dating we went to Cotton Eyed Joes in Knoxville to see DAC and he sucked then,should have not expected him to be any better nearly 30 years later.Jake wanted to see him in concert before he kicked the bucket.Two of the best were Junior Brown and Robert Earl Keens Christmas show.
 
Best friend and I saw DAC play Charlotte in ‘97. He was bad then, I’ve been surprised to hear he’s alive every year since then. Willie is playing Merlefest this year and one thing all of my friends can agree on when we saw him 2years ago is it was bad! I feel sorry for anyone excited to see him play that show. I go to a fair amount of shows every year and have begun to dread sold out shows. Most of the bad etiquette seems to be from younger people, which I fully understand because I was once that asshole:lol:
 
Been over a year since my last aluminum project. Man I forgot how much I love welding aluminum! Was getting getting good bout the time I was done......lol

Lukas Nelson opened for Nathaniel Rateliff and we didn't know it was him until his set was half over. It was a trip.

Worst fans we ever encountered were when Train opened for someone we liked at the 9:30 Club. We knew they were Train fans because they left before the headline act even stepped on stage. :lol:

Seen DAC a few times and I had a good time at all of them but all but 1 show really sucked. He played a biker event 25+ years ago and really put on a good show and acted like he enjoyed himself.

I saw David Allen Coe at the Longbranch when I was at NCSU in the early 90’s. He absolutely SUCKED for the first 3 songs. Then he turned on his hearing aids and he was better after that
