Random Thoughts.....

with millions of dollars on the line and decades of notariaty to lose.....why are NCAA coaches not more upset with bad/wrong ref calls?

they replay the play over and over on the jumbo tron, showcasing the wrong call, yet the (wrong) call stands and they just play on and accept the outcome

are they all on the take and no one really cares?

Not sure where this belongs, but absolutely cool as hell.

Just saw that and was super intrigued seeing the tools he found. The old methods vs new are not much different. The ending wasn't what I was expecting. Good click bait type post without horrible adds!

In a position of leadership you must evaluate your alternatives.
You cant personally reverse the call.
You can throw a fit and if loud enough and long enough you will get ejected. If you think you are a valuable coach then you think your team is better with you than without, so getting ejected would hurt your chance to win.
Also when you over react to adversity you subconsciously instill doubt in your team, deep in their psyche they believe "coach knows we have our work cut out for us and if any call goes against us - he doesnt think we can win" - then they push harder and make more mistakes.

No the man in the arena knows what few in the stands understands. That the great plays werent perfect and they had flaws and the horrible mistakes werent totally trash, the margin between total dominant victory and blow out loss is much much thinner than many will ever accept.

Bad calls happen every game because officials are human and make mistakes. No different than a missed shot...no player shoots a shot he intends to miss.

But fanatics fret over outcomes while participants know the outcomes dont matter - they are just the recording of the sum of the inputs.

I drank 15 beers and that’s a whole lot of brew in one night

Spoiler alert, they’ll break your heart to the point you send your parents a message apologizing for being a fucking dickhead in your teenage years.
When I was a teenager and pissed off my parents my mom would say, "You deserve everything you get from your kids."

Now I understand what she meeant. And was probably right.

My girls will be nine this year. I can't imagine two extra versions of my wife running around in a few short years :(

I went through that with 2 daughters ...
You know those dressing room mirrors where there are 3 panels and you can see yourself from 100 different angles?
Now imagine you your wife pissed all the way off and standing in one of those yelling at you ...

Wow..My girls ALWAYS took my side

Few things lit the fuse on my wife's tampon like my girls siding with me during an argument

2 blatantly wrong calls probably (did) cost a title game, tens of millions of dollars, years of notoriety, hurt recruitment efforts, etc

Whats that about getting ejected?

I've yet to see the Refs apologizing.

why is so much effort, pain, time, resources, frustration, long term health affects put forth if the outcome doesn't matter?
