Random Thoughts.....

cops don't drive up and down the hiway with their strobes on unless they are in pursuit......right?

an empty rollback wrecker traveling down 40 with bright as the sun strobes on is not needed

or the construction guys headed home from the site with all their strobes on in the grill sitting behind me at a stoplight
I've always wondered if the people doing that are required by their employer to run them, or if they just do it because it makes them feel special.

I use strobes on my truck and trailer daily, but typically they're on for 30 seconds to a few minutes, while I am blocking traffic getting into a driveway. They help get people's attention, but some people will tear up a strangers yard to go around me, instead of waiting a minute.

Buddy of mine runs a lowboy, delivering equipment for a paving company. He's constantly having to load/unload with traffic running beside him. He said an old timer gave him this tip and it's true. The most effective way to get people to give you ample space is to act crazy. Swing chains/binders around a little, flap your arms around, and yell at the equipment. People pay a lot more respect to a little crazy than they do someone just trying to do their job.
