I've always wondered if the people doing that are required by their employer to run them, or if they just do it because it makes them feel special.

I use strobes on my truck and trailer daily, but typically they're on for 30 seconds to a few minutes, while I am blocking traffic getting into a driveway. They help get people's attention, but some people will tear up a strangers yard to go around me, instead of waiting a minute.

Buddy of mine runs a lowboy, delivering equipment for a paving company. He's constantly having to load/unload with traffic running beside him. He said an old timer gave him this tip and it's true. The most effective way to get people to give you ample space is to act crazy. Swing chains/binders around a little, flap your arms around, and yell at the equipment. People pay a lot more respect to a little crazy than they do someone just trying to do their job.
 
So I just generally hate people. I’ve said on here before how my house sits first in line on a private drive that goes back to other peoples houses. I’m “in charge” of keeping my part smoothed as charged by the county. I do so at the best of my ability and have brought in over 150k ton of road material to get my stretch built up and back to suitable while the rest of the road suffers from lack of maintenance. I’m 1 of 3 folks that have a tractor capable of any sort of maint. Today, while smoothing it up I once again got honked at and the car ran up onto my yard around me to get past then peeled out and sped back to get to their house. FUCK YOU and FUCK IT!! Scraped up 3 separate piles and made speed bumps. Sat in my garage (looks out at the road) and drank beer watching all of the ball joints and other suspension components of those asshats just scream for help as they went full MX over said road bumps and getting all the shitty looks. Why? BECAUSE FUCK EM! THATS WHY!! I’m so done and over it.




Ps. Also pissed because I have 2 new 100+ home developments going in on both sides of me after family property was sold out by “next generation kids” for the money. Starting the process of looking at getting TF outta here.


Like I said. I hate people.

Got a CDL? Move to Stanley and learn to drive a skidsteer and excavator (if you don’t already know how) and we can get rich!

Im with you.

My inlaws like on a paved road state maintained with a 25mph speedlimit. 3 houses on it. But a church is also on it at the end. Those ass holes use it as a drag strip on the way to church. We tried to talk to the preacher, he wouldn't meet with us. Had the cops show up on Sundays. That helped for a couple weeks. But then they decided they would start honking on their way up. That started at 630 am and continued until 130 every Sunday and Wednesday night.
I may or may not have made some calls and ended up with a dump truck load of hot mix asphalt and a roller on a Friday night. 5 speed humps later I think they finally started to get the picture. They ended up beinf about 2ft tall and 4 ft wide total. They lasted 2 weeks before the state took them down. But the cars go alot slower now and dont honk...
People like that are why I dont attend church anymore but thats for another time.

Yeah don’t even get me started on the religion thing… but damn. That sounds like a proper shitshow. I’d have been pissed that they removed the money you spent on those speed bumps. I would have raised hell!!

CDL is good and unrestricted with a 100% clean MVR. Equipment op is easy from loaders and dozers, to excavators. Also ran haul trucks, scraper pans, and a slew of other equipment to include M1A1 Abraham’s tanks lmao.

Who said I spent any money. I got friends that are just as big of ass holes as me. They wanted to dump it on their driveway and just make a big ass ramp and see if anyone was dump enough to drive off it.

So the fullest of I hate people reared its head today. Wake up, dogs out, coffee and chill right? Nope. 7:55 my dogs start hollering (someone is on my property). I walk into the kitchen and looked out the windows to see the sheriffs deputy parked along my property at one of the “bumps” I had put in the road. I walk out and ask if something was wrong and anything I can do to help? He says a report was filed about an obstruction to the road that it was not passable and caused damage to their vehicle so he was responding. I explained the whole deal about me taking care of the road and frustration about speeding. He was totally cool!!!! Will not put this in the deputy at all as he was just doing his job. He cited


And said if I want to avoid further issue I needed to smooth it out, go to court, and then do it legally with permits and signage. As of today no harm no foul he’d be on his way.
So now if I want to do anything to slow people down ON MY PROPERTY that yes, is a recognized easement to other dwellings, I’d have to file with the court, have an engineer out to approve, pay for signage, XYZ. What in the actual fuck.


Once again, fuck people. So beyond pissed at the pettiness.

Ps. Anyone want 6 acres and 2,600 sq ft in Moore county?? Make you a smokin deal!

I'd scrape all the gravel off and let the sucker rut up so bad that it's not passable, shouldn't take long to happen this time of year.

This. Maintenance enough to let you pass. Doesn't require for all the idiots to be able to maintain freeway speed. For spite i'd scrape off the good stuff and sell it.

I would but I specifically chose a granite based by-product (think the consistency of cat litter) so it would lay down and infiltrate the sand and clay substrate and cause the existing “road” to stiffen up and become like concrete-ish. The time spent would be beyond my time and give a damn. Also knowing now how petty they can actually be I don’t want to go to court over lack of maintenance. See also: I’m selfish and I like leaving my driveway and it being smooth for my wife, me, and visitors to my home.
 
@skyhighZJ i would have told the cop you just got your scrape blade and tractor and your doing to best you could and you'll try to fix it to the best you can.

Then instead of a bump make a trench and a smaller bump. But constantly out there as time allows.

Stick to the story and if they want to take you to court show all cost, time, fuel including tractor. And just state you havent received a dine in compensation, but if they would like you could hire a motor grader to fix the whole road and all could split the cost. I bet not one person would step up and say okay.

You could move up here on the hill with me, but you'd probably tear up my driveway flying in and out.
 
Shared driveway was something that always scared me when we were looking for property. Some people can be real assholes. Sorry to hear about your troubles.
