Random Thoughts.....

Current raging debate in my lab today.

One of these is called a Pig in a Blanket
View attachment 439745

But what's the proper term for multiple?
There's only 1 pig per blanket.

Achually pigs in a blanket is proper and correct.
Merriam even explain why

For a compound made up of two nouns separated by a preposition, the first noun is pluralized to form the plural, as in attorneys-at-law, chiefs of staff, and bases on balls

Went outside at 8am to cut a few trees down that were close to my garden, but didn't realize that i was going to go for a swim. Fawk this humidity! I'm ready for October.

There's some major wildfires up in NJ that are causing smoke and haze all the way down here. So we got the double whammy today, humid, and smoky. Breathing optional. Nice day to stay the hell indoors.

We took the boys to Tweetsie on Friday to see Thomas the train. We spent the night in Boone. Saturday afternoon we were at Appalachian Cookie Co. on 321. Me and my youngest were standing out on the front porch. He was playing and I was people watching. I watched a brand new F-150 start pulling out of a side street to cross 321. I just turned my head and saw an early 2000s Silverado heading right toward it. The Silverado swerved into the other lane to avoid him but the F-150 still didn’t stop. The F-150 hit the Silverado in the right rear wheel. The Silverado went up on two wheels, then rolled a couple times before landing back on its wheels.

A young (20ish) female fell out of the passenger side window as the truck was rolling. She landed on her back in the oncoming lane. One of the dozens of big debris removal trucks working in the area was headed right at them in the other lane. Thankfully he was alert and saw what was happening. He got stopped no more than 20 feet from her. She got up off the road herself and was hobbling around screaming hysterically. But thankfully she was alive and not too seriously injured. It all happened so fast, but still felt like it was in slow motion too. Definitely an interesting day.

Seatbelts matter. She's so blessed. Ive seen so many folks get ejected and die that would have otherwise been fine, seatbelt usage isn't even debatable.

100% agree. In 2003 I was in a bad wreck in Wytheville on I-81 North. Was in the passenger seat asleep when our car was clipped by a tractor trailer changing lanes. We went into the median and rolled several times, landing on our roof in the Southbound lanes. I was the only one in the car injured, my dad or sister neither had a scratch. But my side of the car took the majority of the impact when we rolled. Had a compressed disc, cracked sternum, fractured 3 fingers, and was scalped in one spot by the headliner of the car. My seatbelt is 100% the only reason I’m still here today. When we went to get our stuff out of the car from the tow yard in Rural Retreat we looked at my seatbelt. Almost every stitch in it was ripped loose. Another roll and I would’ve most likely been ejected.

@89wrangler ’s post got me to thinking…
What happened to CJs? I used to see them all the time, and a few years ago they were starting to bring big money. Now I never see them and the prices seem disappointingly low.
All the folks who drove them young are to old and brittle to bounce down the highway in them anymore. All the rest are too young and soft to drive and repair a man's Jeep!

My random for today. The big limb falling across the road this morning requiring a tractor, chainsaw, and chipper was rather unplanned.
But hey some folks just worship different. I've become become rather hesitant to step foot in another church building. Spending time outside in my own conversation with my creator I find peace. The heat this morning doing so reminds me Hell ain't no place I wanna turn up in.

I too find time alone in creation some of the best worship there is. Every time I sit and watch the world come to life while sitting alone in the woods I feel more at peace than anywhere else. Honestly, it was the first peace I felt after losing mom was that first morning in the woods.

I’m not a church person but I think there’s something cool going on and my place I see it is nature doing nature things. Whether it’s on the farm through the natural selection of life or at work seeing the amazing geologic creation that has been created. Definitely humbling but trying to figure out what’s the best suit and car to show up on Sunday to keep up with the others nah.

I love my church. There's none of the dress code mess. I've worn Crocs and t shirt on multiple occasions, grease covered work clothes ect. I try and look nice, but I ain't wearing no suit. Jeans and a polo. We have folks all the time that show up (or drift in) looking downright rough. We do have a free closet if they need something, but its not to belittle or make them feel bad. No different than the food pantry we run.

As much as I love my one on one's with God, there's no replacing the good that a good church brings with it. "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."

But I digress so as not to get the ban hammer again....

CJs? they are all for sale on random marketplaces for double what they are worth

so many half finished projects, been sitting 10 years, or need big ticket items like tires and rust repair

I would agree with this. But I have been to a number of churches that are not my cup of tea, and could turn outsiders away real quick.
