Random Thoughts.....

Horsepower created car guys ... handling made them equal!

random fact of the day - "snooze" time on an alarm was originally 9 minutes bc of gearing in the first analog clock to feature it

Ran the deutz tractor a while today bush hogging, and all I kept thinking is that the Germans must have had small feet. Cause my size 11s couldn't work the split brakes.

Like a lot of guys I go by my middle name (bc my first name is not only a generationally repeated name... my parents thought it would be funny to name my brother the same thing). Insert George Forman joke here.

My work email address is my first name. But I not only have a signature block but I also sign all emails at the bottom w/ what I go by.
I don't expect people to just magically know, but it baffles me when I have a recurring back and forth email chain with somebody, even very short 1-2 lines, and I continually put my preferred name at the end, they still keep titling the response w/ my first name. WTF is up w/ that.
Dude literally just mailed me a package where I gave him the correct name/address block on it.

I think Ive shared this before here. I've got - sort of the opposite problem.

I was adopted by my dad at 6 or 7. Cant remember.
I was born Ron James <old last name>

When my adoption paperwork was done the old school southern backwoods lawyer said - and why I remember this I dont know -'Ron isn't a proper name - we are going to put Ronald on the paperwork, you can still go by Ron but now you will have an official formal name'

Ok whatever

What has resulted is 40+ years of insanity.
My Social Security car says Ron James,
My federal tax returns , Ron James,
My SC Drivers license says Ronald James...
now here is where it gets fun.
My Passport. Ron James.
SC will not issue Ron James a DL
TSA pre-check cant verify me.
Every time I buy a firearm I get wait listed.

Anytime you run a credit check on me - it comes back with an alias flag. Known aliases include.. I feel like Ron 'Tater Salad' White

So who is this masked man? Have you got us all in this false life? Will the real Ron please stand up?

I can't imagine.

"Andrew often called Drew or less by others. But please don't call me Andy"

My grandmother, like many born at home country folks, had 2 birthdays. One was the days she was the days she was born that her family recorded, the other was a week later when the Dr made it in to town to record it at the courthouse. He didnt keep up with the dates so every week he had a whole batch of babies with the birth date of when he was at the courthouse. That made Dr's appointments very confusing later in life.

A friend of mines grandad had a funny name story as well. His name was JL. No middle name, not initials, just JL and his last name. He got drafted and when he filled out paperwork it threw everyone for a loop. He tried explaining it every time but it was confusing. He was getting his physical and tried a new tactic. Filled out his first name as J only, middle name L only. It was his turn and the dude called out Jonly Lonly Creech! That didnt work! After that he decided to just name himself. He settled on Joseph Leonard. That was his official name the rest of his life.

Been Kris or Kristopher (at least I’m pretty sure lol) my whole life but ever since ever I’ve been CHRIS. Even having a signature block or otherwise people have always written Chris. When I correct them then I have to spell it out. If I just say it’s Chris with a “K” they seem to think it’s spelled Khris. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Where can you buy a folding paper map anymore? Book store has atlases but I want a regional folding map of a certain area. I find it odd to ask as I used to do cartography for a map company, now I can’t find a damn map.

Found them on Amazon, but it doesn’t show what area it covers.

I know the state welcome centers have state maps. Don't know if that helps.

So I'm the last of four kids. Oops baby, if you will. Dad barely made it to the house in time to catch me when born, so I'm told. They didn’t get my "delayed" birth certificate until kindergarten. Last trip to the DMV, the manager almost didn’t let me get a real ID and had never seen a birth certificate at four yo. I feel special/neglected that my folks just said f u govt, you don't need to know about this kid.

ever heard and know where the term “Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water” comes from.

This is what you get for being the “last of 4 kids”. 😁

The other day I read a statistic that humans eat more bananas than monkeys. I thought about it for a second and realize that was pretty obvious, bc I couldn't remember the last time I saw a human eat a monkey.

I also go by my middle name, Adam. My first name is Tony. Just Tony. NOT Anthony.

What baffles me - I've lost count the number of times I have had to write my full name on documents and people have "corrected" me saying "You have to put your full name Anthony"

MY FIRST NAME IS NOT ANTHONY!!

Edit: the only time calling me Anthony has helped is with telemarketers. You call me asking to speak to Anthony I can honestly say he doesn't live here.

same ploy here wrt telemarketers.
Growing up w/ a dad and brother and I al having the same first name when they called asking for William we'd just laugh and ask which one.
