I am surprised no one has mentioned Christmas tree disposal, its a show all in itself:

Anyone ever brought a live tree in for Christmas and planted it later? I did 2 at my old house, they lasted about 5-6yrs, then some bugs ate 'em up. The first year at my new house, we tried one. That particular year was really rainy, and the hole I dug in January kind of sucked. That tree didnt last the first summer.

I think my wife and I will start that tradition soon. We've always been thinking about doing it but never have.

my neighbors a few houses down did that. the overgrown, unkept christmas tree goes well with the broken down cars, forklift, engine hoist, and what looks to be a huge electric motor in their front yard.

There should be a whole nuther thread about that... I've got pics, just too lazy to start a thread.
I was waiting for that, it's why I like the real ones, and far as the smell we have some small limbs in a old pot on the stove with some va. flavoring and cinnamon boiling. Makes the house smell like Christmas.
