Registering in NC....

I haven't seen another exo caged vehicle around Raleigh, or in Pittsboro. Wondering if anyone had trouble registering a vehicle with an exo cage? I know they can't be more than 104 inches wide...but other than that, I can't find anything else that would be a "no" during inspection.

Max width is 102". Other that that, I don't see why you'd have any issues.
 
Mine 78 f150 has an exocage, of course it doesn't need an inspection because of it's age. The only iffy part would be if an inspector or cop got you for the windshield bars obstructing visibility. That is doubtful though. Ive driven for a couple of miles beside or with a State Trooper behind me a few times when driving mine to work and they never pulled me over.

Even the inspection part of it shouldnt be an issue being in Chatham County and the age of your vehicle. Should just get a safety inspection since yours is pre-obd II.
 
mines same way, they don't even ask about it.
 
My Grand Cherokee with an exo never had a problem being registered and inspected.

If it was most recently registered in a different state, then no inspection is required for the first registration. It'll give you a year to: 1) realize nobody cares, or 2) find a shop that doesn't care.
 
There's nothing in the inspections about obstructing view. Just wipers. A cracked window only fails if it can catch a card (therefore cut wipers). Width is not part of inspections either.. maybe a law regarding max width, but didn't apply to insp when I took the class.
