Last night I was under the heep trying to make my new E-brake cables work, and I managed to stab myself in the thumb. Not 10 mins later I did the same dern thing but a diffrent finger.

What I want to see/hear is who all has done this. Gotten hurt doing something and did it shorty after again. Or heard the little voice in the back of there head saying 'dont do that your going to get hear,' 'thats a bad idea stop' and ignored it and it happend again?

Putting a flywheel on a CJ-5 with my head thru the hole in the tub, leaned foward and hit my head, jerked back hit my head, jerked foward hit my head third time, yelled whoa before I killed myself.

'thats a bad idea stop' and ignored it

most common for me is climbing under to wrench on something, and realizing then I didn't put on eye prtection.
"Eh, it'll be quick, shouldn't get in my eyes".

45 seconds later....
...scrambling out from under, up the stairs to bathroom blind and cursing myself...

I have a tight work space in my 1 car garage with my jeep in there. I swear every time I stand up from under the jeep I smack my head on something, then stumble into something else.

I always seem to grab hot pieces of metal after welding/plasma cutting.. and never learn.

 now that's some funny shit!

I frikin do it all and do it over and over agian, pickin up hot stuff, bang my head costantly, always have a good red tan after welding, slip on wrenches and always seem to catch my thumbnails on something and half peel them up, the list goes on and on . . . .:shaking:

Oh and don't even get me started about unloading vehicles off my trailer that dont have brakes, I'm surprised I don't have debt out the butt from the amount of damage that I've almost cause from vehicles about getting away from me . . . . course probably could have hurt myself pretty bad a couple of those times as well.

Stupid College Kids.

I'm gifted with regards to burning myself while welding or using a torch. It's just about guaranteed.

The mistake I hate the most is convincing myself, "Nah, I don't think it's cross threaded. It's just a little hard to turn." A revolution later and I'm cursing myself for being so stupid.

One of my favorites is the little pieces of slag that melt holes in my fingers/hands/arms/legs when I weld without the proper gear on.

It seems like everytime I crawl out from under the Jeep, I hit my head or back on something. Last week I came out from under there and my hard door was open. I stood up pretty quickly and ran my back up across the bottom edge of the door. Almost brought tears to my eyes. I even had to run inside the house, holding pressure on it and get someone else to look at it because I thought I had ripped my back open. That freakin hurt!

I don't drink any more until sweep up time. I have not hurt myself yet pushing a broom while drinking a beer. I messed up a drill cord one time in the wee hours when I was tired and/or semi-drunk and was not paying attention.

mig gun

Put the MIG gun down on the bench one time and it slipped off and jammed the still-hot wire into my thigh just south of the 'boys'. Left a neat 0.035"x.375 tunnel in my leg. You should have seen me come out of those pants and run around in the shop half naked trying to get to the sink (double bay garage door wide open with neighbors onlooking).
In the end 'no-harm, no-foul'.

In the pits at the race track I watched a car fall on a guy while he was working underneath. About 8 guys picked up the car and yanked him out, they set the car back down very fast and dropped it on one of the guys legs that helped pick it up.

It took about 30 seconds for anybody to realize that the other guys leg was still under it!

My laptop is cursing you since it now has soda on it.
:)
Mine usually involves brakes, or exhaust.
Get ready to work on one or the other, realize I need something else so I run up to Advance/Autozone/whatever's closest
Pop the tire, grab a disc. :( (friction makes heat in case anyone here is as dumb as I am)
Same thing with the exhaust manifold on the jeep. Drive to friends house, open hood, start to unbolt things.
#@(*#(*#@(*# that's hot.
Doh.
:(
Another good one is my hard top is on a shelf, "just above" my head.
It was low enough, I hit my head, so I moved it up a few inches.
My buddy that helps and is over a lot just happens to be a "few" inches taller. He hits his head on the corner of the top at LEAST twice every time we are in the garage.
Fortunately he doesn't read here, or I'd have to move the shelf up again.

Lets see, the time on the 96 ram trying to change the track bar and the breaker bar came back full force pulling to me and hit me in the head, I was out cold the wife grabed my legs and pulled me out to see If I was still all there and living.
Other time welding under a POS 75 chevy :flipoff2: over head and some hot pops went down in my pants burnt a hole in everthing:shaking: and I was pulling my pants of running around the yard, Lets say the pants and everything else did not stop it but the right one did. Now everytime I go to the doc for a checkup he ask what happen. Lets just say it left a mark.....

I don't want any repeats of The Great Anklegrinder Incident of '06.

Drilling out tapered hole for new track bar with 3 amp drill. Bit locked up on me many times crushing my fingers. Put on big leather gloves after the first time. Had to get r done.

My worst to date...
Pulling the Moss back to NC behind a Cheby lite-duty 2500 on a towdolly. I crawl underneath to pull the rear driveshaft and "prop" it against the frame...

"Hey Hank, reach inside the passenger door and grab me the electrical tape (for the U-joint caps) and the ducktape (to secure the DS) please?"

He does and slams the door... :shaking:  :shaking:

I wake up several minutes(?) later laid out underneath with him wiggling my foot asking if I was "alright" and @#$%! goose egg on left my temple/cheek!

Well, that and a few small scars that indicate (as Joel found out) "cut off" wheels will do just that!

Been dang near knocked out cold doing the same thing when the bit caught and spun the handle into ye old noggin. nothing a Newcastle couldnt fix!

WOW, sure glad you guys admitted all this! Now, I don't feel so bad!

I have given myself black eyes from a breaker bar, breaking.
I was welding underneath the Jeep and burned the front of my legs. I didn't feel it then. It was a all nighter and the next day after wheeling all day it started to burn. The next day at work I run my shin into a table and peeled the skin off about 2" wide, and 3" long. That was the worse burn to date.
I am always burning something or cutting something and the wife asked how I did it, and I really don't know.
Under the Jeep with a welding helmet on and hitting everything. Worse is hitting it all again, with nothing on.
Hot stuff down the socks, spatter burns all over my arms.
Man the list is endless. Glad there are others that make me not feel so bad

Dropped the impact on my big toe from about 3 feet high.

Now that I think about it I have dropped my driveshaft on my head a couple times but never knocked myself out like Caver. But being shaved bald the results of my brilliance cannot be hidden.

Uh that picture is disgusting, looks almost like those dang shark bite pics.

I would post up some pics of the blood trail up the driveway, through the garage, and into the kitchen but it was all cleaned up by the time I got back from hanging out in the ER for 6 hrs.
