shot in the neck today by a soulless scum at a university event in Utah. Prayers for his family.

The video was horrible, honestly didn’t even like seeing it once. I really don’t get how someone could hate just an activist/vocalist that bad to shoot and kill them with being a husband and father of 2 young kids, it’s crazy

It’s called mental illness. We have shaded away from acknowledging mental illness for so long and giving it alternative names that at this point it’s just the status quo.

I heard the media .... one of the 4 main publics ... say that is was possibly a supporter firing off a celebratory shot and they accidentally hit him.
Th US media is human excrement.

Dowd was fired, many others are now walking back their commentary. I agree with you

Man...

It's been a roller coaster of emotions since I heard he was shot and then pronounced dead.

Charlie Kirk was a rare individual. Who openly spoke of his love for Christ and Country. And who wanted nothing more than to have open, honest conversation about our differences...

And he was killed for it.

For open and polite discourse he was rewarded with violence.

Martyred, really.

And watch those on the left who are celebrating. They would celebrate your death as well for believing the same things if they knew your name. Those people are not to be trusted. Those people are evil and given a shred of power 2oukd use it to destroy those of us who believe differently then they. The unvacvinated, the pro-lifers, the American patriot, the pro-gun owners...

They hate us with an unbridled passion.

And they want us all cowering in fear. "Look at what they did to Charlie Kirk! It could happen to me if i spoke up!"

The old communist adage of the nail who sticks up is quickly hammered down.

Then I start to get angry. But really, we've all been angry for a long time.

We're just moral.

Moral enough to know that its not time enough for violence against those who've declared themselves our enemies yet. Moral enough to hope and pray for peace between us all. You know, those who want our children to be brought up in the occult, the perverse, the immoral, and us to be punished for resisting...

But damned if it doesn't feel like we are quickly approaching vengence.

Because my fucks are becoming less and less.

And my civil discourse of polite disagreement and discussion is quickly turning into, "Get fucked!"

We have this discussion when someone we like gets killed but zero about the above. That's part of the problem. @skyhighZJ posted the link and it got some angry faces, but we just moved on.

We NEED to care when anyone gets killed from needless violence. It's all crazy and bullshit.

Weren’t they the only democrats who voted with republicans on a bill just days before being murdered?

Idk, I don't pay attention. But, that's beside the point. They got murdered and they are democrats.
Whatever tf that means these days.

it means nothing because no one will do what it takes to 'fix' crime, hunger, homelessness, mental illness, racial-everything, all the percieved injustices cause all that grift and 'just hire me and I'll fix it' employes millions.

its so simple, so easy to see, so transparent and is pointed out often, but still no one cares

bleeding is leading, it gets the clicks, it gets the tax dollars, it gets the eyeballs of the hundreds of millions of brain dead masses that doom scroll tiktok, feeding our #1 enemy all the data they could ever want

then we have the DEI trail of idiots that is easily outlined that let the 14 time offender roam in CLT and then one of the incompent DEI hires that got that Ukraine girl killed is re-elected

you couldn't write a novel more unbelievable if you tried

No one is gonna do anything, just like in Europe and England. Except yell occaionally.

It's remarkable and probably a sad commentary on my "bubble" but prior to his assassination I had never heard the name Charlie Kirk nor ever seen his face that I can recall.

We have an extended family group chat with my wife and kids and several of their sloe friends who are like extra kids to us/. It started blowing up with the news and my first response was 'Sorry, who?'

Ive done some reading and still have sort of the same question.

From what Ive read I largely agree with most of his view points. Ive read allegations he said some things Id strongly disagree with - if true. But so many people are reacting so emotionally as if he was a beloved friend.

I'm truly saddened that anyone lost their life. I pray for his family and especially his kids. Whomever is responsible should be punished to the fullest extent of the law- death penalty seems reasonable in this case. But I'm just amazed at the emotional connection so many had...

I'll slink back into my work-a-holic bubble now. Its comfortable, calm and I like it there.

I feel like this country is well and truly fucked.

I personally don't think they have an emotional connection to him.

It is sad on several levels. That someone is going to be assasinated for speaking their mind, that someone is assasinated for their politicial beliefs, that people are celebrating his death, etc.

My youngest son was always watching him on YouTube. I personally think the dude was a total blowhard shitbag, but he was a human with a wife and young kids. How you would ever celebrate someone being assasinated without cause is beyond me.

For the sake of the OP, I'm trying to leave this thread open in GCC, but in order to do that, yall need to redirect the political thoughts to this thread:
move it, I don't give a shit.

Rules on this board are not for every one anyhow. Picked and chosen.

Well, when I ran for moderator, one of my campaign promises was to try not to enforce the rules, so hopefully I'm doing a good job! :D

Honestly hadn't even looked at that thread, but it is handled.

Well, when I ran for moderator,
Wait wait wait. so there was a campaign?
You mean we had a chance to stop you... And didn't?
Fuck.

I was wondering why there were two threads about the assassination. I didn't notice this one was in Gen Pop....

As for Charlie Kirk, you can agree or disagree with his opinions. But he was an extremely successful and motivated young person. Looking at his efforts in good faith, I can say I appreciated what he was trying to do. He wanted to get America back to the debate stage to discuss fact based arguments on social topics. As with all statistics, I'd occasionally hear him use a fact that didn't tell the whole story. But that beats the hell out of most political pundits and politicians these days.
