So, what's your best road finds?

Found a small acetylene tank this weekend at the beach. Rolled out of the back of a pickup when he went by our house. Never came back around.

Couple of years ago, I was fixing to make up a hydraulic hose clamp to secure a couple of lines to the side of my crane. Got about half started, then took the dog for a walk....about a half block up the street, found exactly what I needed laying in the road, that had fallen off a JD (green clamp with a yellow cap and bolt). All the pieces were within a few feet, had everything except a nut.

Other than that, 3 crowbars over the years, two sledgehammers, a good stepladder, bunch of screwdrivers.

The best thing I ever found on the road was a 45 quart 5 day cooler full of fresh shrimp, was kind of random especially since I was on 903 between Kenansville and magnolia guess somebody coming off of hwy 24 was coming back from the beach oh well.

Back in 94 or 95 me and a couple buddies were leaving Bristol drag way and some ole country boy was in front of us in an old Chevy truck. When we get out to the main road he punches it the tailgate drops and then there's a yard sale in the middle of the road. We started blowing the horn and trying to stop him but he either stole the truck or thought we wanted to whip his ass cause he hauled ass to get away from us. So we get out to see what he lost and open an old craftsman tool box full of Mac tools ratchets, sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers, and a bunch of other stuff. I'm still using all these tools in the shop.

In the road an 8' step ladder I still use today. Found $408 in an envelope at Lowe's once too. Told customer service if anyone came looking for it, it would be at the Salisbury PD. No one claimed it, so it came back to me 3-4 months later.

Find a $5 across the street from my house the other day.

i watched a 20 gallon compressor fall off a cargo rack , making a quick left from a stop light near the parts store , i had to run some mexicans off , but i got it , all it needed was a belt and a capacitor . Also once I found a truck tool box in a pond , waited til summer when the pond drained and dragged the box out , still have it 8 years later . Since then I have had a job that requires 40-50K a year in driving , I always look in the ditches for goodies

Doing many cross sections of roads/highways over the years when I surveyed, I found about $100 in bills, a 20 here a 5 there etc. I also found a lot of contraband and paraphernalia. Tools, phones, wallets (empty) etc. While driving I have taken home 3 fresh killed deer, 2 I watched get hit and one I stopped to drag off the road that was still breathing. I also found 3 un-opened bottles of liquor while surveying road ROWs, all were still wrapped in the paper bags from the liquor store where somebody tossed them into the woods I assume before they were pulled over. I still have a pint of Bacardi select I found off Hopson rd. in derham 20 some yrs ago, you can see where the bag stuck to it while it lay there a few years.....one day I'm gonna drink it................

A few years ago I saw a Miller bobcat sitting on the side of the four lane. Turned around and went back to make sure I saw what I saw and as I was standing there wondering how I was gonna load it by myself a wrecker pulled in being followed by the owner.Dude had forgot to strap it down and it had fell off the back of the trailer goin down the road.
Not the actual welder but a pic for reference.

.....Solid GOLD!

I found the best jumper cables I've ever seen in the road one time. Still use them when the jump box is dead.

Couple weeks ago my son found a nice Gerber multi tool in the middle of Grapevine trail in Harlan. Since it was stainless we washed it out good and looks like new. He was excited to give them to me since i lost my set

I have a road-find double-ended box wrench for hitch balls. As an added bonus it also works on my trailer axle nuts!

Obviously not as lucky as some of you guys!

At Windrock in February I did find a guy's wedding band that had fallen off his finger down a rutted, rocky trail that I cannot remember now. It was partially covered in rocks and mud way down the trail from where he stopped. He was worried about his wife killing him!

Few years back, Found a Hobart auto arc helmet, followed him a few miles but he out ran me. Works great. Brake clean saved it when it drowned in the rain one day. Ratchet straps too. Found my cell phone in the road after having left it on my hood, ride a few miles and was mostly destroyed but recovered all pictures and contacts.

Found my ex there, oh wait you said best. Well then we were coming home from a concert one night maybe a little buzzy and drive by 2 big ole dominicker (sp?) hens sitting on the shoulder of 64. I said damn thems nice laying hens, my buddy says if you can catch them I will hold them. I spun around and eased up close clicked the lights off and just picked them up. So we are now headed home with two hens in his lap laughing like hyenas, then he says watcha gon do with them? Well damn I didn't think this one through! So we just eased by my grannies house and sat them on the porch rail. She talked about the magically appearing laying hens for years.

Snap-on ratchet and 7 sockets. For years I've been kicking myself that I didn't spend more time looking for the rest of the set. The selector on the ratchet was beat up pretty bad, but got that swapped out from the local driver without hassle.

I found 2 gigantic rolls of bubble wrap on i85 southbound in Charlotte, near the NC16 exit. They were about 4ft in diameter and 2-2.5ft wide. Managed to stuff em both in the back of an XJ. I thought the door latch was gonna bust on the way home, but it made it. Somewhere there's a video of me and my buddy Zach each holding a roll of bubble wrap and running towards each other across the yard, slamming together, and then bouncing back onto our asses. Seemed like a good idea until we tried it, haha!

My neighbor who's a landscaper had a push mower fall off the back of his truck while pulling out of our neighborhood. He saw it fall, turned around in the next driveway which is maybe 50 yards away and by the time he got back it was gone. He said it couldn't have been on the ground more than 30 seconds!

I'm not on the road too much, but I pick the curbs in our neighborhood all the time. Snagged a Poulan leaf blower and Honda 4 stroke weedeater last year.

My grandfather does that all the time in his retirement community in Florida. This washer/dryer set isn't white enough, that set of ping golf clubs are last years model, this antique armoire clashes with the drapes. Old people get rid of stuff for the weirdest reasons. I make an annual trip to his place with a uhaul pull behind just to pick over the stuff he snags off the curb.

damn, you guys have found some really awesome stuff. Really makes me want to just start walking around random areas, looking for stuff. I found a $10 bill once. Also found a pump sprayer that looked to be pretty new. @jcramsey I really wanna find a leaf blower like that!

I don't know if I have ever found anything good, but I'm sure some of you guys may have found some of my good stuff. I'm bad about leaving stuff on the bumper.
Yeah but what have u found under the back seat or in the glove compartment??? I worked in a yard for a while.I know stuff gets left there.

Bunch of tools, and tons of change. Also a whole lot of shoes. Just single shoes, never a pair.

And underwear. Lots of very large underwear.
