Road Trip Questions

Rental mini van for a week is close to $1000.00 right now. That’s a bit steep.

Unless I’m reading that wrong. Looks like a grand to me.

The mobile hot spot is because my phone sucks. I’d like something dedicated to iPads and as a back up. We could also stream the game back home to grandparents. Also, having something on a different carrier might be worth it.

I couldn’t even get an iMessage out yesterday. Probably an issue I need to fix. We are with US Cellular and data can be spotty.
You might want to consider just buying a new phone. May not be any mroe expensive than paying for an extra hotspot for all that time, and you get a permanent upgrade.
Buy a new year-old model of something on eBay. I got my moto g Ace for like $150 4 months ago.

EDIT: just realized you seem to be an Apple guy. can't help you there :flipoff2:

Yeah but that's 2022 dollars.

What vehicle would you be driving? whats the difference in gas savings?
Then add in cost of maintanance.
Then add the value of not giving a fuck.

It may or may not be a big difference. Seriously worth a thought though.

And also take some of the money and hit the little pizza joint right there at the ball fields you’re gonna be playing at. It’s pretty bomb. I used to wear that place out when we would be staging soldiers at Alexandria airport (right behind the complex) before they would head down to Polk for their time in the “box”. And yes I rolled my HMMWV right up in that place like a boss lol.

🤣 Sorry, I was saying in the grande scheme of things IS that a real chunk of change?

Considering the cost of the miles in your truck 🤷🏿‍♂️

Money here, money there... When you consider the fuel mileage, maint, tire wear.. etc

But different strokes.

I know people that buy new cars .... So there's all kinds of people

Priceline is a little cheaper this is for 7 days

I thought the same thing, then changed the pickup location from Raleigh to Lumberton. The price went up 50%.

Still, a 10mpg improvement in fuel mileage would be a $700 savings over 1800 miles at $4/gal...

How'd you do your math?

1800 Miles
15 MPG
120 Gallons
480 Dollars

1800 Miles
25 MPG
72 Gallons
288 Dollars

192 Diff.

If I see the $700 difference, I could certainly see the benefit of renting.

<shrug> might have fucked it up.

We’ve made it to Meridian, Mississippi last night. Looks like we’ve got a few more hours to go until Alexandria, LA.

Best part of this trip is we’re paying for a beach house and a hotel Thursday & Friday. I’m trying not to let it upset me but hard not too.

Well my alternator is reading low.

Getting some 12v reading. Normally 14v.
It’s been mostly 12 and then goes back to 14. What to check?

I should have rented a van

You sure it's not just the alternator cycling on and off? Most modern vehicles can shut the alternator off when battery is full for a little fuel savings.
