Got a pm on here from a landowner saying they didn't want anyone else up there riding. I resonded and told him I've never invited anyone or gone myself without landowner being with us . So looks like if you don't know someone who owns land there , they don't want you there. I don't know all the details just passing it on.

FWIW, I know Ed Satterfield, used to be a CTB member, bought the top part that exits onto the Scenic HWY. He and a partner were planning on developing it and said when the club rode there in Nov that it might be the last time that part would be available at!

Got the same (presumably) PM....

According to the copy of the land deed I have in my hand filed the 12th of October 1977 with the register of deeds office in Graham County in plat book #2 on page 103 it says; All roadways as shown upon the plat of survey entitled snowbird and little buffalo will both be dedicated to public use. Each roadway to have a right of way width of 60 feet measuring 30 feet on either side of the center line of each particular roadway as it presently exists.
So legally you could ride up to the point where the new owner has the top part and ride back down.

something smells fishy about that post and somebody coming on and PMing certain people on this board....hmmm

yeah i am wondering what is going is somebody handing out names or something. I haven't even met most of you guys if any and i get a pm about not riding on his property. I am just wondering where he got my info from. And if you guys have only gone with land owners is he just making this up about meeting with landowners

If I get a PM stating this something will have to be up, cause my junk is mall rated, not trail rated :D

seriously though, the guy might be sending stuff out just by reading locations you put down, or maybe your rigs look like they have been up there (or he could be responding to a post way back when about wheeling up there)

Fishy?

I don't need to call you. Ive seen "trolls" come on other boards and start a big fuss with folks about loosing a place to wheel since most know thats a way to get us going on these 4x4 message boards. If your legit, thats fine, state your desires for your land and move on, we dont need people here preaching how bad some wheelers tore up your land, it doesnt look good for the rest of us who obey the law.

I plan on calling him tomorrow, just to see whats up.
He apparently searched for Robbinsville. and went with it.
in addition to the above message I got a prelim paragraph stating that he read I liked to fish and I was welcome to fish anytime on his property. I replied asking a few details and didnt get a response (YET) but I plan on calling tomorrow I will post up the results.

Yeah where is that dude? If people aren't being cool, and are doing bogus stuff, then air it out. If people are wheeling without permission on private land, then whether or not the roads are public is irrelevant. Where are all these weekend warriors supposedly parking, camping, and wheeling? And what's with all the PMs and dodgeyness?

Guys please, lets not shoot the messenger here.
Give me a day to dig into this. If in fact the guy has trespassers tearing his place up, he is probably pissed off and deservedly so.

The number listed is an Atlanta area number. It is very possible (nay probable) that his Robbinsville property is a vacation property and he isnt there and when he shows up sees huge ruts where folks are tearing his shit up. Now he certainly cant speak for everyone, or for some friends lands but lets hear him out.

Please dont send any inflamatory PMs until I or someone speaks with him.

Thanks
Ron

Skyhi is right. there is a right way and a wrong way here. Sounds like there is a chance that some wheeling (on the public road, if it is in fact public) is legal and i'd hate to give the county a reason to F that up. I can also understand where he would not want his property ruined. DEFINATLY stay off private property.

i'll dig and see if i can come up with some right of way grants, and landowner names and see what the deal with the "public" road is. It very well may be a brown sign private road that the state forces the owners to maintain for emergency vehicle purposes.

I spoke to him yesterday...the neighbors sound pissed and are probably going to take matters into their own hands to stop it. He seemed resonable just tired of people blasting through the roads they paid to have gravel put on. You people do what you want I'm just passing things along.
This guy had a 404 (atlanta) area code.Sounds like his mom lives there and he is a weekender.

I was part of the uncovering of this and it held in Federal court. Ask me how I know!!
