My family is talking about this mornings rocket launch like it was the greatest thing. I didn't watch it, was there something spectacular about it? I asked what was so special about it and they all made me feel like some asshole for not thinking it was the most greatest thing.

Enlighten me please.

I was pretty excited to hear Jeff Bezos was going to space. But then I found out he came back, and I was disappointed.

Man i was thinking the same thing. If he were landing on the moon, sure... otherwise, meh.

Heard he entered just the tip of space too! :laughing:

I'm partial to the SpaceX version

Yeah, I didn't get the hype either. He basically did what Nasa did in the 60s except the rocket is reusable and the capsule landed in the desert instead of water. It was still a little capsule atop a rocket that "splashes down".

The Virgin "Space Plane" is much cooler. It's like first class vs. Baggage compartment.

It just goes to show that if you work hard and are diligent that your boss can take a trip into outer space.
There are days I'd be happy to send my boss into outer space...

especially if I get to design the re-entry

I was home, so watched it. It was different, in shape, performance, & the passengers. The youngest was 18 [I don't know why] & the oldest was a lady that trained to be an astronaut back in the 60. She like 80 something! Very smooth lift off & straight up. Not the usual amount of smoke & flame we usually see. Maybe that was due to size & weight. Booster separated and landed in it's upright position, on the landing pad, exactly where it took off from. Who does that? The capsule was only in Space for something like 3 minutes. So if you want a ride, I guess it's 100K, per minute! The capsule landed by 3 parachutes, in the desert, pretty much on the spot. Parachutes were designed to slow it to 1 mph, at touchdown! A lot of it has not been done that I know of by anyone else!

Bezos = dildo
SpaceX = butt plug
Virgin = The Jetsons
