Daggon mud hole (Falls Dam near parking lot). Makes me angry b/c I did the same thing 2 weeks prior 2 times in a row. Went for it this time and slid on the embankment once I was out and went right back in the mud hole, but on my side.

3 or more feet of standing mud, took 2 weeks to clean and it's looking good now but still a bit dirty. Had to take apart the dash, remove the broken glass in my side view mirror, replace bulb in headlight and lightbar light and my air filter (it's an open K&N style). Got a few dents but that's cool, I like to call them my badges of honor. Or battle wounds. Anyhow it's a good story.

Crappy thing is, my daughter was in the passenger seat and it rolled on her side. She was up to her neck in mud and the seat belts locked up and wouldn't let us out but I got her out pretty quick. Scary stuff having that happen with your child in the Jeep. Fortunately we had talked about seat belts and not holding onto the roll cage or anything to that affect.

SUPER COOL people got me out with a tow strap wrapped around a tree on the outside of the fence. Flipped me back over then towed me back a couple feet and drove it out like nothing happened. I hope I see them at URE Cross. Took off air filter and fortunately intake was dripping oil but clean. Radio starts blaring and first thing that comes on is a Geico commercial that says "We reward safe drivers" haha guess I won't be calling them.

Oh btw I need to buy a full cover for a 2000 TJ, will post in the other forum so please let me know if you have one available.

Holy crap... thanks for confirming my decision to NOT be a mudder... LOL

You guys are braver than I am... I'll stick to trails and minor rock crawling, thank you very much!

No way I would drive into/through that chit just for the hell of it :shaking: Those pics are one of the main reasons, not to mention all the other gremlins that usually pop up later.

The last time I went through that hole, I ended up w/ a couple of dead frogs in my grill.

.....looks like I got off easy.

seed60: thanks so much, yah everyone was okay. Also had two adults in the back, one of them was submerged up to their head in mud too and couldn't get out of the seatbelt easily. The other guy (I found out later) wasn't wearing a seatbelt and I was pretty pissed about that.

TapouT: I have to get some pics now, it's pretty much clean. I posted some pics though to this reply of earlier pics. Still do have those gremlins someone mentioned. Hazard switch needs to be replaced or cleaned and reconnected, still have a bit of dried mud hanging out in the dash and I think the fan for my heating/air system is so caked that it won't turn.

Fortunately when I got my Jeep I bought the extended warranty which I have actually made a profit from. Everything I have ever had done has been covered and paid for. New radiator, water pump, boost cylinders in the rear brakes, clutch..most recently had both U-joints in the rear drive shaft replaced and the rear diff re-sealed and topped off and all it cost me was $9.80. I've prob had some other stuff done that I can't remember right now.

RaleighJeep: heck yah man!!!

Pictures:

1. My Jeep after our first trip to URE this year.

2. My fav flex shot, I think this was in 2007.

3. My fav RaleighRockrawlers group shot. 5 Jeeps, one boulder.

4. I thought this was just funny as hell. People driving by did too I think haha

5. The only shot of my Jeep in the mudhole. Man those guys were awesome.

6. My fav 'motivational poster'

Oh RatLabGuy, yah....that's the mudhole. Happened a lot different to me though. thing is, I made it out but slipped down the embankment in the rear view of your video and back into the mudhole. Funny thing is, I did the same exact thing twice in a row two weeks prior with no issue. I think people just tore it up that day and I had absolutely no traction at all. Cool video though.

I've got video of me going through it two weeks ago with no prob, will post once I can find a charger for the camcorder. It went missing @ URE :(

ha! yah no kidding, I wonder why??? :) no more mud pit for me. I don't mind cleaning my Jeep but damn haha It's evil anyway too much negative stuff has happened at that spot....it overides the thrill of it imo.

so you're not that guy? Wow. Lightening does strike twice in the same spot.

Replace lightning with stupid... heehee

some things are just too tempting

I had my own fascination with the Soup Bowl (or Toilet Bowl as some call it) for a few years, but now I don't even think about going through it. I don't like cleaning all that mud off anymore, and there is a reason some people call it the Toilet Bowl......

A rare shot of it completely dry back in June 07 (truck was on 31s):

My last run through it back in April 08 (truck was on 34s):

I can't imagine flopping over in that nasty mud. I don't think I could take enough showers to ever consider myself clean again.

feel for ya man. i fliped my old gm 2 years ago up there and some cool guys flipped it back over for me. put some tranny fluid in the oil and drove 2 hours home. thats y i always stop and help someone that needs it, never know when u will.

This reminds me of the Car Facts commercial about slight water damage.

HAHA yah I know that commercial about the water damage...and the car is sitting in a hurricane. that's like the Geico commercial that played on the radio soon as my Jeep was cranked back up haha

Rolling_down_the_hill yah man that's an awesome attitude to have. I would have been totally screwed if it weren't for their help. If there is anything I could ever do to help someone else out I'm sure to do it. Not that I would be the first person someone would ask :shaking:

DRaider90 damn I've never seen it completely dry like that. I thought there would have been more rocks at the bottom. At least that would help with traction. Maybe that's why there aren't any ha But yah no more mud hole for me. It's been a month or so now and I'm still finding mud here and there. Like the other day it came off my seatbelt onto a white shirt

Cool thing is, got it cleaned out of the cargo area pretty good (wash, body prep/degreaser twice, sand, wash again) and put down some of the roll-on Dupicolor bed liner. Have to say that it's much tougher than the spray-on I had on there previously. Will post pics prob tonight.

Also finally found a charger for my camcorder so will try to get video off it to upload.
