Round 2: Keepin' up with the Joneses, Mud Devils and Tony Woody

It will have character about 10' into the first ride upon completion. Ain't especially easy on stuff or anything
This is everything...IMO there's no point in building/having a serious wheelin rig if you're scared of scratching/denting/rolling it. "Character" marks let people know you're here to do some gnarly $h!t. Ooooorrrr you're just a really bad driver. When I look at the "character" on my buggy, I tell myself it's the former - but truthfully, sometimes it's the latter 🤣. One thing's for sure, I'm never gonna get up that obstacle if I don't try...and peer pressure is a beeotch!

One way or another, we'll find a way out!

Let me tighten up this harness and finish this cold snack real quick :driver:

This reminds me of wheeling at GER with you.

That was an epic trip! My first time at the ranch (I think it might have been yours too). First time meeting you, Derek and Alan. Wheeled in the snow for a day and a half. Derek was upside down in the honey hole 3 minutes and 27 seconds into the first trail. I did a rear axle shaft delete the first night. Derek blew up a motor or something. We crammed 4 grown ass dudes in the F-Toy and thrashed the limiter all day following you around in 3wd, drifting through turns, bouncing off trees, somehow going forward and backward at the same time. I can honestly say that not much has changed, except my current buggy puts up with my bullspit a little better. Man, wheelin is fun AF!!

I believe it was my first time up there, such a good day.

Yall are really running with the meaning of "character" here haha. I was just saying the Ranger was interesting because it was different and kinda had its own personality. Line it up with 10 buggies or 10 JKUs on 37's and ask which one is unique. Of course all the buggies and JKUshave their own character too, but its hard to make one stand out. Now go to a FFR convention and park a buggy in line with 10 Rangers, and ask which one is unique. Perspective makes a difference. Do you wanna be a big fish in a small pond, or a retarded fish in a puddle? Neither. Do what you think is cool and the rest will sort itself out.

Man, here I was going to buy a JK on 37s, with black wheels and an ass pipe.
Total buzz kill

That was my angle as well! Unless its a bomber, pretty much every buggy looks the same to me. Unless it's @Kickdeez his has character and looks unique because it's usually upside down

I totally get what @jeepinmatt said. That's what I've said for years. When you see my full bodied rig follow some bad ass buggies up a trail, it's super rad. There's what, like maybe 5 Rangers like mine out there doing what it does? I like that.
But, I cannot change the handful of limitations it has due to have a conventional frame, width and height. As I get older, getting in and out of a lower rig sounds great. Having functioning AC in a true crawler does too (that's in the plan).
The next one will be very functional, while reflecting the wheeling heritage I have. Whereas not as unique as my Ranger.
Hell, y'all keep talking up the Ranger. That'll make the chassis and suspension worth even more when I sell it!

you going old school scorpion?

Interested to see what ya do with the AC, that's one of the hangups of me wanting a buggy, well also not wanting a tow rig and trailer and being extreamly cheap  .

Definitely will be following the build thread of the new ride!:smokin:

For the ranger chassis, how bad will I piss off the Ford people if I swap toyota parts onto and under it??

Who cares as long I get my money? 😁

Another GER trip in the books. We killed it for 2 good days. @StretchASU, @CasterTroy, @KrawlerTJ and @tobaccoroad4wd and their Virginia crazies.
Hit all the good stuff a few times. Stretch saw me intently harnessing up prior to the exit of Chadillac and told his ol lady "Treadway's about to do something"
One shotted it and had time to heckle the boys. Truck did great. Arrived back at the shop with more character than before. So that's a good trip.

Well, time for an update and future plans for the ol' girl.
Sometime in March will be my last wheeling trip in the Ranger. I'm on the wait list for a Wide Open Design LJ chassis starting in May. Picked up an LJ tub locally and having them build me a heavy roller. I'll be reusing a ton of parts from my truck in the new one. Engine, tranny, case, coolers, wiring, wheels, tires, seats, steering, etc.
Hopefully done by fall of 26.
As a result, there will be a pretty bad ass and accomplished Ranger tub/chassis for sale in April.
I'll be selling the chassis and body with the following included: EMPTY front and rear axle housings, 3 link front suspension with trackbar, 4 link rear suspension, with all 7 links and 2.5" Fox airshocks, both housings trussed and linked up, skid plates, belly pan, orbital mount, full hydro ram mount, cutting brakes, set up for SBF, C6 and Atlas. Possibly will include radiator as well.
WB is 126", can be a little shorter or longer.
We all know this thing flat out works.

If you're interested, like REALLY interested. Lemme know and we'll chat. Not gonna part out the chassis.

Until then, gonna keep on kicking ass with the heat on all winter!
