whats the big different in the 92 to 95 yj 4.0L auto trans vs a tj 4.0L auto trans other then interior and leafs vs coils springs? and im talking about a s or se yj and a X or sport tj? pondering the idea of selling my 93 yj and moveing up to a tj but my yj is payed for and if i got a tj i would have payments i use my jeep for dd and riding on the beach and rocks no mud and

what would be the big differents or would it even be worth trading up?

Payments on a TJ? screw that, the newest one is a decade old.
Unless you really need a coil sprung suspension, keep the YJ.
The interior is nicer on a TJ, but not worth a car payment nicer.

yea i kinda just wanted a better riding jeep and was think about doing a coil spring conversion on the yj but would cost $1800 to $2500 to do so

I had a 95 YJ before my 00 TJ. Huge difference in ride comfort, but I wouldn't recommend taking on a car payment for it if nothing is wrong with your YJ.

Yeah, but a one time cost of $2500 is better than four years of payments. If you look at it from a payment standpoint, put that money back each month that would be going towards the TJ to build the YJ.

it would be a 2 to 3 year loan if i did anything and my yj is not rusted out but dose have some rust and i found out after i had got and got it home someone ran a carfax on it for me and it was wracked n 09 and given a rebuilt title those are my only concerns cause im not a welder or painter or fab guy so i would have to pay someone to do the majority of the work that needs to be done to get my yj where i would want it but it runs and drives great just took a 150 mile trip with it and took a 300 mile trip back in may with it

this is my yj just took these pictures today

which one had more leg room yj or tj? one of my concerns with the tj is the dash is much bigger looking looks like it takes away from the leg room and im 6 ft 3" so leg room is a problem is somethings

Why not install some quality springs and shocks. This can make the ride quality tons better.

Even a shackle reversal will help a bunch.

A 4" rough country all leaf lift rides better than stock.

Doesn't necessarily mean you should lift it, just get some quality leafs.

It Won't ride as well as tj with coils but it also won't cost what a tj does.

im thinking if i keep it i will do the 5" procomp coil conversion kit i wish they made like a 3" coil conversion kit but they don't

You can make your own coil conversion for 1/2 that amount if you have some fab skills.

Barnes4wd will.have everything needed to build the kit. Add some coils and call it done.

If you're considering a $2500 coil conversion, sell the YJ for $3500 and buy a lifted TJ for $6000. You'll come out ahead. A YJ is a good offroader, but a TJ is leaps and bounds ahead for a daily driver.

Hard to remember exactly, I know there is a lot more dash and center console in the TJ.

That is a terrible junk bolt on coil Conversion.

Better off selling and getting a tj, or take your yj to @MarsFab and have him link it front and rear with coils, if you are set on coils.

Probably cost/price will be similar either route, but you would have to ask @MarsFab for specifics.

My point is this:

There is tons of room for improvement in your stock yj suspension without going to coils, and without spending tons to get into a tj, but if you are set to spend thousands on a coil conversion or upgrading to a Tj, then by all means spend away. Haha

Or if you are set to have a car payment, and want a plush ride,

Get a JK....
Tj or Lj will be the newest jeep I will own unless someone wants to give me a jk or Jku they have to much plastic for me I was just trying to see if there was a big difference worth taking on anther payment as I already have a payment on my Ram 1500

Why would you want to downgrade to a TJ?!?!? :) X2 on the ProComp...they're crap. That MarsFab kit looks awesome and GenRight makes a nice kit 2...I hope to make the conversion before too long...

Yj's don't ride that bad and tj's don't ride enough better to justify buying one imo. The best riding jeep I've ever ridden in (besides one with coil overs and links)was a yj, sprung over on stock springs.

Since you said you can't do fabwork, find a shop to spring it over, build a traction bar for the rear, install a SYE and spend the money to buy the proper hi-steer knuckle and tie-rod and bilstein 5100's

You'll end up with a good riding jeep that looks great and handles great on the street. In my opinion this is the best cheapest way to gain lift and ride quality.

I had a YJ with a spring over lift, loved it. Sold it for dumb reasons. Later on I bought a 98 TJ. Besides like said above the interior was nicer but ride quality was minimally better. I'd keep what I have and invest in it. You'll be much happier in the end.

That ridiculous airbag steering wheel in the TJ kills me. I prefer the YJ interior
Yeah, slamming into that YJ steering wheel during a frontal collision sounds good, that silly TJ airbag kills you :p
