I am so tired of this piece of shit 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee my wife drives. I take great care of the thing and it won't stop breaking stupid shit. 150k miles on the dot.

In the last year I've replaced:
Battery
battery cables
alternator
radiator
thermostat
water pump
it keeps popping the ds rear taillight bulb
door switches/controllers
recalibrated the sunroof twice
and the check engine light is on now.

And now it is dead in my in-laws driveway because either the starter is bad or the ignition switch is broken.

Screw this turd pile.

Dang, makes me glad I got the lifetime/unlimited mile warranty for mine before they quit offering it.
Of course that means nothing will break on mine and I’ll have wasted the money. Just too much electronic crap for me to trust them...

I have already offered that solution to my wife. She turned it down.
Wait, that sounded really really bad. I am talking about the fire thing, guys.

Kind of funny how I built a big business built on the unreliability of these vehicles, but now that I sold the business I am on the receiving end.

Our last car was an 05 Trailblazer that we drove for 10 years and 220k miles with only needing a transmission rebuild. Literally nothing else except a coil pack at the end before we sold it with 250k miles.

Exact reason I got rid of that HEMI WK as quick as I did. First it was the battery, then the differential bushings, then the transfer case granaded all in one month. I couldn't wait to trade it back in for my GMC.

It's 11 years old with 150k, so most of the stuff on the list is not too surprising as age-related failures.
But, they do have a certain reputation for reliability.... :p
Yep.

Also - Can't really blame Fiat on this one. This car was designed almost a decade before they took over.

There was an ignition switch recall. I've got an 05 with 240k miles. replaced alt, water pump, starter and heater core. It's been pretty reliable over the years, it just recently started leaking from rear main seal and i think the front driveshaft needs some attention(pops with turning hard). Cant really complain, i would like to see it make it to 300k.

2 people here mentioned battery regarding reliability?

People expect the battery to last forever? Y'all are buying FIAT branded batteries?

Manufacturers can have an impact on battery life though. Everything from charge/discharge rate, to location/air flow/ temp absorption can affect longevity.

Tow truck driver lost the damn key. How does that even happen?
Oh it does.. I had a tow driver leave a key on the roof of a car I was working on, forgot about it and customer left.. couple hours later went to move the car the tow driver dropped and realized the key was long gone...

240k on our XC 90 we bought in 08. Oil changes, brakes, and ball joints and tie rods and all has been good. I did replace the water pump as well.

Beyond those normal things gs, the car sounds like it did when we brought it. It may blow up tomorrow. But I’m trying for 300k on it before anything major. We shall see.

Beyond my own positive experience with Volvo, I have nothing constructive to add to your post. Sorry. WJs seem to be problematic. I had an ‘04 and it was plagued with issues.

I dont mean to be an ass, but complaining about a jeep being unreliable is like complaining about a turd smelling bad.......
Yeah but my shit don't stink, didnt you know??

We have a 09 Grand Cherokee. It has had a few things here and there. But, hasn’t been out of the ordinary or left us walking. Working on third battery*. But it’s also 10 years old. Not out of the ordinary. There was a key issue one time.

*battery tested good. I hade to replace anyways. There is no chance she left the door open or a light on. Only the battery at fault.
