Screw you Daimler Cerberus Fiat Jeep

I dont mean to be an ass, but complaining about a jeep being unreliable is like complaining about a turd smelling bad.......
Hey, hey, HEY! I'll have you know that every Jeep I have ever owned (or known) has been incredibly reliable.

Reliable at ensuring that I was at least elbow deep under the hood nearly every weekend!

Swap in some Ford axles and a Chevy V8. Done.
The axles will break first, then the Jeep tub will deteriorate away leaving you with a nice motor chilling there all by itself.

Don’t buy a Chevy/GMC newer than 2012 or so. You’ll be replacing AC parts regularly....bottom line, each mfg has its quirks.

Old man has a 14 or 15 1500 4wd high country trim.
In 154k he has
replaced 10 coil packs/wires (all with GM parts done by dealership because that's how he rolls)
replaced the transmission
Had the windshield and seal replaced because it was leaking during rain
Had A/C repaired 4 separate times
Replaced rear driveshaft because at 19k miles it inexplicably fell out driving down the interstate.

They all have issues except mine. Its brand X and its never ever ever had a failure anywhere in the history of the company its the best.

So apparently both the tow truck driver and mechanic verified that the key was in the vehicle. No one knows what happened. I'm thinking maybe someone was walking by and saw it and grabbed it with the intent on coming back later for it.

My thoughts were:
1) They will be very disappointed when they come back and realize the reason the Jeep was there is because it won't start
2) If it does start, they can have the piece of shit. I have full coverage.

Sheeeeeeit. Did your old man have the 6L80 replaced because of failure or because it shifted like absolute shit and the dealer couldn't figure out why? I won't complain about my first issue (AC leak) popping up at 80k miles. But its right at 3 years old so it still is fucking stupid in my mind that these components shit out that quickly. Pretty sure I spotted @Pacfanweb with the same issues over on one of the GM boards.

Total trans failure.
Actually it was a bit of a mess.

At around 60k it threw a code. GM said it needed a new torque converter. TC replaced. At 88k on the way to Florida in mid GA with the bass boat behind him it catatsrohpically failed. Had to pay to get it towed and the boat towed home, boat got damaged in tow and....well insurance woldnt cover it. so he had a 2 month old Ranger Z21 with a hole in it... and a lawsuit

Ouch. That is a mess.

Damn right. The SBC swap is something I've done with both Jeeps I've owned (350 in a 95 YJ, followed by a 383 stroker and now a 402 in my current CJ). I've got Chevy axles in this one, but considering some other options at the moment...should time and allowance from the wife make it a reality, we may never know.

So you bought a Toyota, huh?

(Disclaimer - "rust" and related issues not considered a "failure". That's actually part of the company brand.)

My 2015 GMC has had only one issue, the A/C condenser. GMC store was willing to get some help from GM since it was out of warranty, but it was a Friday and damn hot out, so I just bought a new condenser from Autozone and put it in that evening, then rolled down to one of my dealerships I'm a vendor for and had it recharged.
Probably a better condenser than the dealer one, anyway, and a lot cheaper.

only thing outside of normal maintence ive had to do to my WK is the transmission solenoid pack.

sunroof drains and window electronics being funny are pretty annoying but at 186k its not that bad.
