This is what we call the "Exotic Animal Theory". If I see a Harley Dresser that I am in LOVE with, I'll pay a very high price to get it, while you on the other hand may hate it and want a Suzuki Hayabusa and you pay high dollar for Busa. It's all about the "Exotic Animal Theory".
 
I've bought a few things from members here. 1 of them even gave me another bfg at ko with some decent thread for free even has a yota 6lug wheel mounted. 3 more recent members gave me some of the best deals i would have ever found. they all beat the brand new prices with shipping. if it didn't cost so much to ship over half the stuff being sold here would be gone.

I want every yota part listed here- dont have the funds cause bills come first.
 
What I hate is the sellers on here and everywhere misrepresenting what they are selling. I've wasted over 200 miles on my truck and wifes car going to look at tires for my new build because of this.

I've had some good dealings w/ people through this site. Heck the last five or six things I sold on here I recieved my asking price and wasn't jewed abit. But my asking price was fair and most things were less than $200. Now I have been stood up a few times but I only setup showing times when it is very convenient to me because I don't usually set around for nobody. I'm usually working in the garage when I tell people to come by so it doesn't really matter to me. And I always tell everyone to call when they are ten min awayl

I sold a little nissan truck a few weeks ago and the guy said he had money in hand. He got here checked it out and drove it around and talked me down quite a bit. It came time to pay up and said can you hold it till Friday for a deposit and this was a Tuesday. I said I sure will for $100 per day plus I said I will charge you 1/2 of what you talked me down for wasting my time pretty much. But I only have $200 he said. So I said that will hold the truck til Thursday at 11:59 pm and at 12amFriday morning it will be posted back on the internet for sale and you will lose your deposit period. So he agrees and Thurs. 5pm his wife called and said his bossman didn't want to pay him till Friday and asked if i could hold it till then. I said sure just drop off another $100 bill and we"ll be good. But we don't have it. I said I'm sorry mam that wasn't the deal and she basically hung up. Two hours later they called back and some how got the balance of the money and come bought it.
Was this unfair of me? I'm just tired of deadbeat buyers.
Now don't get me wrong I'd have sold it to them at the agreed price at a later date if I still had it but they knew it was a good deal and just wanted me to hold it for them so I wouldn't sell til payday. I was just hoping to sell it to some one from here cause it really was a good deal.
If a person gives a deposit on something he has intentions of one of two things. Either buy the product by a set time or forfeit the deposit it is that simple.

That and they beat you down on price then say "OK I'll take it, but I won't have the money for two weeks. And can you deliver 70 miles away for free?"

Yeah man its crazy how some people do business. I have bought from a few people on here in the short time I've been a member and never beat them down on price. I believe a man is selling his items for what he needs out of them and I expect the same. But that never happens, especially when its a younger person.

There was a member on here that drive me insane about a set if Baja claws that he only had half the money for and kept giving me sob stories so I came down on price yo help him out. Next day they are back on Craig's list even used my pic.

Asked how much and where I was located......both of which were in the ad.

I had one string me along about a gun. I went out and bought a box of ammo for it so I could fire it, as he said at the time he had never shot it. I took time off work to go get pistol permits and he disappeared for a week. Came back and we arranged another time that I could ride out to his house and then he disappeared again. It's all part of buying and selling online with strangers I suppose, but you know what they say, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...



Anyhow, this thread has turned into quite the bitch fest. It must be that time of the month.
 
Somebody starts one of these threads every six months or so.
 
I have bought some amazing deals on here. I have sold probably a 50-100 items on here. Overall I am very happy with it.

There are two problems you are pointing out.

1. Some people price things too high. Maybe we could put a price poll on their thread? It would be cool to somehow let them know their stock 89 YJ is not worth $6,000

2. There are many loosers that have no money that just want to test you. If you sell enough items it can become easy to weed them out. One big clue is don't meet unless they are just going to pick it up and then confirm 5 times.


I think the real purpose of this thread is what can be done? For people who care we can maybe try to educate them on selling techniques? But there are many others that will never read any post other than their for sale thread.
 
as a buyer of 2 things on site I've had nothing but great deals on good used well represented items

I just sold a bunch of stuff to a guy that found the ad via google. Came over here, registered, sent me a PM, we did the deal in a Lowes parking lot.

I'm open to any suggestions that might make the classifieds sections better. But I get the impression that the folks doing most of the complaining have never tried using ebay or craigslist. What we have here is a million times better than that.
