[Sep 26, 2013] 2013 Dixie Run (Sparta TN)

We're planning on a large group going. Anyone know what the food situation will be this year? I read that they weren't planning on doing it the same as last year.

Looks like ECORS is scheduling time to be there this year! Finally, it falls on a weekend other than the traditional 1st weekend in October (my better-half's birthday)! Woohoo, now I can go! :)

I went last year without a rig to drive..ended up driving a sweet JK up a cool obstacle just so the driver could watch his rig from the outside, ended up riding with Bj allen in the rock race which was a helluva ride(he won) I rode with Ole jeeps,Mike Juarez,John Brooks on some trail rides..Then I hopped in with Adam Mackey for some go faster stuff for a while, Think I rode with a couple others too. Ended up riding to the hill climb comp with Adam Woodlee's woman and a couple other chicks in the buggy..bailed from there and rode with some dude in a yota buggy back to camp, where I ended up scoring a 4 seater sxs to drive around for a while.

Dont remember ever walking more than a few feet..lol So walking is not an option if you play it right! I called it ride whoring.

Hate to say it, but Dixie Run is at a better place at Golden Mt. than at Tellico. Its a great place to ride and host an event like this. I plan to go back this year. Rig or not.

We need to support Southern Four Wheel Drive Association by going to the Dixie Run. This is the Disney World of places to wheel! For all that SFWDA has done, doing and will do for Uwharrie we need to go have fun at the Dixie run to support them!

I have been going to The Dixie Run for many many years. From the times when the raffle was held around a campfire after everyone eat burgers off a big grill, to what it is today.
As much as Tellico meant to me, I have to admit, I also think Golden Mountain Park, is a better venue for the event. Mainly because everyone who comes through the gate is a paid participant of the event. Meaning everyone on the trails paid to be there, and supports SFWDA.
I can honestly say, I have never been to a Dixie Run that I left saying I didn't enjoy going. And yes, that includes the year, nearly 6 years ago that I had a heart attack while there.

This will make my 4th year going to Dixie Run @ golden mtn!! Def one my favorite rides, the trails are awesome!!!

I would like to come also if it's open without membership and if I can figure out a way to trailer my jeep there. question is are the trails for anybody with anything or what? I would like to think by Sept. my Jeep would be better equipped but if it's not, still on welded 8.25 and D30, can that be doable out there. I just want to finally go to a place with wife and kids to camp and have fun trail riding, do a little more than my "back country trail in Boone" if you know what I mean...something that will actually be challenging but not like crazy and would like to actually donate some funds for the off road society. We love camping more than anything so being able to camp and trail ride while watching big guys do awesome stunts sounds like a great weekend. any info on this would be great so I can try to prepare for this. Thank you.

The park very doable with your jeep just pick your lines & def bring the kids SFWD has plenty events for kids through out weekend!!! The park had ponds on site with kid friendly play area!!

I'm headed down Thursday morning. Park is easy to find. 15 mins off interstate.

Sent while I should have been doing something constructive...

I should be going through about the same time. No problem following. I just have to wrangle a few guys and their stuff into the truck to leave. My stuff will be packed the night before.
