[Sep 26, 2013] 2013 Dixie Run (Sparta TN)

Leaving Thurs, AM-ish! Wanna try to meet up with everyone!

I'm part of the "I don't tow at 90mph" club, so I'm up for a caravan.

Sent while I should have been doing something constructive...

I'll be leaving Mt. Airy approximately 10:30am Thursday. I will be going I 77-81-40. I should hit 40 roughly 1:30-2 ish. Driving the rv so avg speed probably close to 55. My arrival time roughly 5:30pm

sent from a fancy Samsung Note 2 with an illiterate operator. ..

might wanna figure a good places to pick up people on the way.

Im thinking leaving here (321 @ I-40) around 8:30. Puts us at the Loves (exit 85?) about 9:30 or so.

If not meeting anyone there, where would the next place/group best to meet up? Ashville?

Looking at the map, looks like we would hit the I-81 @ I-40 intersection 12:30-1:00, allowing for the stop and pick ups. If it goes as usual, we would prob see Matt at the 1:30-2:00 frame. So we may see you there, eh?!

Still undecided abount when I'm leaving but leaning toward leaving on Wednesday, I would like to tag along with a group.

In cant wait. So who all is going an leavin on Thursday evening. Never been an would like to follow some people to the park. Thanks
We will be leaving sometime 3-5 thursday from asheville if you wanna meet up.

When we have a group going through Asheville, we usually meet there around Ken Wilson Ford. Cant remember the exit number but will find out. There is a big gas station an plenty of parking. I would be coming from Hendersonville I-26 to I-40. Let me know if something like this will work. Thanks

Hello I am Danny with Cumberland Offroad and we are just trying to get the word out about an extra ride for the weekend of the Dixie Run.

At this years Dixie Run we are going to have a leaf looker ride for the stock and mildly built rigs.
On Friday morning we will leave GMP at 8:00am and go to the Big Bottom/Scotts Gulf area. The
ride will take most of the day so you will need a full tank of gas and eats. We are doing this on Fri.
so we don’t have to be in a rush to get back to GMP since there’s no other events on Fri. We would
like to limit the number to 20-25 rigs. There will be a sign up board at the check in office.

was just looking at golden mtn website and says only 11 campsites. is this old info or is this true?
I asked the same question via E-mail to C Knox with SFWDA and this was his response.

Lisa,
We have many areas for primative camping that are not normally open except for an event. I have an another area there if we were to run out of current spots, which has never happened before. The sites that they have listed were pay sites and we offer the other for free with the event. The free sites are first come, but we will always make sure you have a place to camp.

Our plan at the moment is to head out of Raleigh on Weds evening, take the southern route (I-40 all the way), and stop for the night somewhere west of Marion. Arrive mid-day Thursday.

Just found out my surgery will be in October, so Dixie Run bound I am!
I will be leaving Wednesday mid-day sometime, caravanning with 3D

i hate this trip is dead in the middle of the fall outage season.

I'm so ready for this ride even if I am riding shotgun!...never been.

Seems like there is going to be a pretty strong NC 4x4 presence this year.
