Since there is no In-N-Out or white castle...Where?

I think Cookout and Five guys have some damn good cheap(er) burgers.

Five guys is awesome, but I just want to try something different. I can go to Five Guys any day.

How is Jack in The Box? Never been there.
I don't understand the draw to 5 Guys. I think their burgers are about nasty. I'd rather have McD's 2 cheeseburger meal. (and that's saying a lot).

As for Jack N the Box... guess you've never heard the term "Crap in a Box" huh?

lol. Five guys Vs. McDonalds? wow.
I think five guys is good. I like the flat top burgers I think the best.
I've hear little names for all kinds of food places, I try not to pay any attention to them until I have tried them.

What don't you like about 5 guys? is it the burger itself? the bun? the way its cooked?
I think of 5 guys as an upscale cook out (that costs more as well)

I think their burgers are extremely greasy. as well as their fries. I've only been to the one at Friendly Center, and maybe it's just that one. I went twice just to make sure seeing as I've heard so many people say they love 'em, but no thanks. I'll pass.

Same here, I don't get the hype with Five Guys. Overpriced for what it is. Better than fast food burgers, but not by much. Different strokes for different folks I suppose...

There is a Krystal Burger in Opelika, Alabama that
@rockcity
@awheelterd
@Dylan W.
All think is the shit...I think I ate a taco hell instead.

But neither was as good as hotel room charcoal grilled chicken wangs.

Not really a slider style, but we finally ate at Nick's Hamburgers in Welcome and it REALLY hit the spot for a good freshly made juicy burger. Really had the old fashioned feel of a little mom and pop burger joint.

Nick's is great!!, not to bad of a drive from high point either.

I thought that was the point of french fries... They are, after all, cooked in grease. :flipoff2: Maybe it's just that location, I've had good experience at several. I'm an early adopter of Five Guys from our Alexandria/DC days. Speaking of which, gawd I miss Hard Times Chili.

People in Raleigh go on and on about Snoopy's, which is nasty to me. I'd much rather have Char-grill, Cookout, or our neighborhood favorite, The Circus Family Restaurant. No fans of Steak-n-Shake?

Yup... Five Guys is pretty much top of the pile. In before franchise operations. Carls Jr/Hardees is all right, as is Wendy's. We ate at Krystal before. It's nothing special.

Not quite a White Castles or Krystals .... light years above them in fact .....

Big Daddy's Burger Bar

In Winston Salem.

BTW - Steak and Shake has become our favorite cheap burger joint.

I have only been to Five Guys once and wasn't really happy to pay over $20 for my wife and i to eat. Was nothing really special for me. Not bad, just not worth it. Nicks is much better.

I have yet to got to Bad Daddy's, but I know it's good. It's a spin off of Big Daddy's in Charlotte and I have been there. I think the owners are kin.( I may be full of crap on that one, but that's what I heard) I have had a Buffalo burger at the one in Charlotte and it was killer

Five Guys used to be great! I remember when they first came to the area and were a big deal, but then got on par with McDonalds real fast.....

@Cherokeekid88

Go to Stokeridge Tavern on 68 in Oakridge one day this weekend, get the Wild Boar Burger... Tell them Schmitty sent you.

Thank me later.

I ate a burger at Foothills Brewery in Wisnton last week.
Not sure which Burger it was but it had bacon and grilled onions and shrooms...cooked a true medium.

It was DAMN good. Highly recommend.
Washed it down with a few (seeing) Double IPAs..which it really wasnt the season for but they were good as well.

Where the fuck are you guys eating out and NOT spending $10/head?

Get out of RTP and it's possible, believe it or not! Cookout ain't no Bull City Burgers, but I could feed myself and my boy off the one $5 tray. That was hella sweet. Now he and his sister eat more than I do!

Fat Daddy's outside of Raleigh. I always liked it

@snappy The best bacon double cheesburger I ever had was at that little greasy spoon shack across from your shop, in Horny Town.

Cook Out is the bomb!...5 bucks and change..double CB special with chicken nuggets and O rings as sides. I also like their ''little bitty'' ice cubes.

Krystal burgers. I'm not even pretending that they are great, but It's kind of like the OP here. We don't have them around here, so when it's 2 am in Alabama, a 24 pack split between Rob and myself, really hit the spot..lol @Ron We could have spit a 40 pack or something wit ya, but NOOO you kept saying something to the effect of '' I wanna eat some real food'' and/or something about intestinal fortitude or intestinal something...

any order by numbers Mexican place.The wife , 2 little kids and I all dine and it's hard to spend more than $30.

The two times I tried five guys I felt like I had just done a load test on my circulatory system, that's some greasy shit.
Hops in Greensboro on Spring Garden st has the hands down best burger around.

This is a constant, day to day struggle for my workers and myself. I'm usually good with a fast food combo or the occasional 5.99 Chinese lunch special, BUT my guys are always trying to go cheaper. They're making it a competition to see who can eat for the least $ these days.

Last Tuesday, Benji convinced us to trust him......

Here's what happened.

Benji: ''I know where we can eat for under 2 bucks a head today''

Me : '' What?...you wanna go to wal-mart and grab some chicken pot pies for a dollar each and microwave them at the customers house?''

Willard: ''Thats a good idea Dylan! but it'd be cheaper to just raid the customers fridge. Maybe tomorrow we can do that, but for today, lets see what Benji has in mind.
( side note Customer fridges and food are totally off limits, unless they are offering, in which case, most of the time we decline politely anyway)

Benji :'' lets go to Burger King. Give me 6 dollars and you two go sit down'' ( yes, I buy most lunches)

So long story short..
Benji ordered 6 cheeseburgers and 3 free waters. .55 cheeseburgers on Tuesdays at BK!
Of course he filled our ''water'' cups with sweet tea, so that was sorta cheating...but whatever.

1.17 each was our bill.

I asked Benji where the rest of the money was. He grinned and pulled out a damn cinna-bon and said ''spent it on desert!
