Snappys toy box....aka a garage build.

does having the center 4" save that much concrete ?

It reduces the volume by 1/3 over a continuous 6" slab.

So long as the subgrade is properly prepared, 4" is plenty. Especially so if you add a little WWF for reinforcement.

I would thicken the edges, though. A turned-down edge for a footing should be at least 12" deep by code, more if you're in the mountains, and at least 12" wide. Less will probably be fine, unless you're looking to put an apartment upstairs or something like that.

4" is plenty thick for a vehicle to drive on. Most 2post lift manufacturers only require 4" thick concrete for the lift, but I did mine 7-8" thick with lots of rebar in the area where I put my lift. Fortunately only 1 of the holes hit rebar when I drilled for the anchors, as that was a pain. I had to resharpen the drill 4 times for 1 hole!

Willie and my dad are one in the same. We helped build his house, he has helped us on many projects. He and dad hunt and fish all the time.

Get a second pole, they will cover the cost vs you having to pay to run it.
