You ever notice there is always that guy on every trail ride. You know the one who you watch his rig, at first you think its a POS, or not nearly as good as yours....then by the time the day is over you are wanting to give away your Coilovers and bolt on some leaf springs.

That is Driver skill....

And one thing that has amazed me is the varying level of driver skill competing in the offroad race community, anyone who has been to an ECORS race can clearly recognize it, some have, some not so much.

Then last week I was talking to an old friend who had been to the race at the Flats but hadnt been able to catch any other ones this year, and he made the comment there is no skill there just whomever is willing to thrash their junk the most.

So that got me to thinking...I wonder how many people have watched an ECORS race, or a KOH feed, or a RCQ feed and said pssht thats nothing me and my buds are way more hardcore than that on our little trail rides.

SOooo.....

We are going to have a little contest. We are going to pick one lucky fan and allow them to enter the season end race FREE OF CHARGE, that's right 100% free. Just show up, bring your ride, bring your safety gear (or borrow some) and lets race.

The Contest
One winner from eligible entrants will be picked at random, and they will receive free entry into the DPG race November 13th, plus an ECORS Tshirt and 2 gate passes for this event above and beyond driver and co-driver passes. They will then compete against whatever class their race rig falls in for a chance to win the prize.

The Prize
Should the selected amateur , PODIUM, I.E. place in the Top 3 in their respective race, they will receive a Year Long Membership to the East Coast Offroad Racing Series, Two free non-transferable race entry competitor passes, two additional spectator tickets for every race they race in next season (this is in addition to any race entry tickets which they will also receive) and all driver perks, stickers, shirts, access for next season.

Should the selected amateur FINISH THE RACE, defined as completing the advertised distance in the time allowed they will receive a free 1 year membership to the East Coast Offroad Racing Series, and an event T shirt for the race they competed in

Should the Selected Driver not finish, well, they will have had a great time, memories to last a lifetime and earned a new found respect for the veterans of this inaugural series. Not a bad day at the track....

Rules and Restrictions
1) This contest is open to new competitors only who have never competed in an ECORS event.
2) All entrant vehicles must pass all safety and technical inspection, vehicles deemed unsafe or that otherwise do not meet the vehicle requirements found in the Series rule book will not be allowed to compete.
3) Contest winner will not be eligible for any prizes, points or other rewards beyond those specific to this contest.
4) All safety and competition rules must be followed at all times

Entry
To enter this contest, you must be a paid donating member or vendor of NC4x4.
You must provide us with a valid working email address that you will reply to in order to confirm your entry.

That's it....Now lets see who wants to race....

Screw it, I'm in. Been wanting to do ECORS, but my wallet's been too afraid.

Any restriction on class? My rig would be consider B class I believe.

Email sent.

I am going to answer all questions in this thread to keep the clutter down.

Only restriction is you will race in the class you qualify.

One other question, when will the winner be announced?

Winner will be announced by Next Wednesday 11/10/10 11:59pm

Bring guys this should be at 5 pages by morning...

Hmm, wrong about B class. Seems I'd be in C class. Locked F/R. Intimidating!

Edit: Nope, I think I'm still B class.

No more than 2 tunable vehicle supporting shocks (air shocks, coil-overs, struts, etc.)
- Yes

Up to 40” tire, non-competition compound (no sticky tires)
- Yes

No more than 1 locker
- No

No Engine swaps or engines with non-factory forced induction (turbo, etc.)
- Yes

One other question, when will the winner be announced? The race is next weekend so the winner will need some time to get a fire suit, helmet, and whatever other safety gear is required.

sounds like they would announce the winner at the race, have to bring your gear just in case you win

just saw this!!!

All anyone has to do is win this contes...come tp the race and place in the top 3!!! They will in turn win nearly...what? 1500.00 worth of entries and swag!!!

I'd like to talk to the friend of yours that said all we do is thrash our junk!

I'd like to tell them that I have made every race..with nary a failure due to thrashing my junk...I've overheated, and had a little racing incedent, wich caused a leaf spring failure...but other than that...I have not hardly even turned a wrench all season...not even a flat tire!

Ive told alot of people that the key is to never drive over the capabilities of the rig...In other words, I can drive better than my jeep will allow...so, as long as I take care of my junk...We should be good to go..right!

Chances are, if anyone can bring a B class contender, there is a great chance to finish top 3. To me, the B class is the place to ''place your bets''. Not to say anything bad about any of us..but B class has the fewest entries, most of the time...and we all dnf on occasion.

Somebody bring it!!!

Would love to enter, but there is no way I could get off THIS weekend to race. Wish this had been posted and the winner drawn earlier.

Duane

I've got the required gear and the dillusions of adequecy as far as my driving skill goes, yet the 'yota is still my only reliable dd at the moment.... :shaking: Maybe I'll get a chance in the next year or so...

Even if I had the gear, the XJ won't pass safety inspection. No doors, glass or cage. :( I guess you'll have to take me out of the running. Could always race the F150! :driver:

But hey, I got the required fire extinguisher and first aid kit! :D

I wish we had the time to get Dylan's sammi ready. He is dieing to race with ya'll anyhow and this would be his chance. To much to do to make it rady for B class and he wouldnt stand a chance in C

He would fair better than you think.....

We still have lots to do for C class. He is running the stock fuel tank so no roll over valve and still havnt fixed his axle wrap issues. He still wants me to four link and stretch it some more.

Back IN!!!
landed a sponsor to provide parts as needed, will be a busy fri night.,just have to wait till Wednesdays announcement to see who's the luck of the draw.

Looks as if there are only two entrants so far, durnzuki you might as well enter, what have you got to lose?

So, if the winner gets a podium finish, do they get the prizes associated with that position? Seems that's a little unfair to the people paying to race (in my opinion, but then again I don't have really high hopes of getting a podium finish :D)
