And now have to go pick it up and move it into the house. Kind of wishing i had paid the 300 for someone else to do it. 900 or so pounds of liberty 64 gun fatboy....ugh. the hard part is the section leading to the front door, which is up 5 steps. Then it has to go 20 feet or so which will be on sch 80 pvc pieces to roll it. Any ideas on the steps???

I also forgot to mention two things....I have the best wife in the world! This is my Christmas present....I think part of hers is getting to watch me move this sob into the house
The second thing is that my tractor is currently in two pieces in my shop awaiting a clutch....bum bum bum, thats the real kick in the pants right there. I am currently anxiously awaiting a call back from my neighbor to see if he could lend a loader (instead of a hand!!).

Plywood and any thing to make a long ramp. I want all the way around my house to the front door for this reason. Got any trailer ramps that come off decently? Any buddies with a front end loader tractor?

Sorry just saw the tractor bit.

I used an engine crane and straps to sling mine onto the porch. It was sketchy but all I had. Once it was on the porch I used two creepers to get it to the door then it slid pretty easy on the carpet.

Remove the door. Some safes have door that just lift off once open. Makes it lighter and allows somewhere to get a hand on.
Oh man that would be amazing! It would also narrow it enought to where i wouldnt have to take my entire storm door off the house.... the handle to open the safe makes it go from 27.5" deep to 32"deep.
@RHSCTJ any chance the door comes off that easily??? Please say its so!! Also i would have to go all the way to clt to get one of those...out of the question lol.

F@$* gander mountain. We purchased the safe on Fri night, someone sold my safe that was tagged with my receipt on it yesterday!

Raised a little hell and now their manager is going to gastonia to get it and then SHE is bringing it to my house to deliver it. Hope shes some strong butch lady!!!

I'm a ways away but I've got a pair of bad ass dollies that we moved a bunch of pool tables with. And moved my safe in with. They make the job easy.

We just got a griffen concrete lined safe installed, talk about heavy... yes we paid for them to move it

I know a guy that can move it for you. I'm not sure the cost but he moves safes for a living.

I had me, my wife, my daughter and her BF and a neighbor to get mine up 4 steps into the house. It's a Bass Pro Red Head 30 gun safe.
I have never strained so hard and put out so much in such a short time in my life.
We used a furniture/refrigerator hand truck with strap. Once in the house, we slid it into my bedroom on a quilt (didn't want to take a chance of the truck scratching my floor).
My wife wants to sell it with the house when we move to mountains permanently so we don't have to worry with getting it out LOL.

On a serious note, nothing has ever given us the peace of mind that having valuables and guns secured has. Safes are worth the trouble and cost.

When I bought my safe I went the neighbor and friends route.
When we moved I paid the movers extra.
That's the plan going forward.

Lightweight stuff. Per the bill of lading, mine was 2970 pounds. But I didn't have to go up any steps...

In all seriousness, 900lbs is nothing to play around with. I'd wait on the tractor or find a buddy who has a lift or loader.

Just rent an appliance dolly. Way cheaper than the $300 used to move fireproof lateral file and file cabinets with them. If going somewhere flat would just use a 4 wheeled dolly.

Sort of lucked out i guess. Manager of gander called me at noon and said she couldnt get ahold of a truck to get the safe......sooooooo i have to wait longer, BUT, they are paying for it to be delivered AND installed in my house, and possibly a couple hundred off. I guess it all worked out in the end! Still pissed i have to wait though. Already tore half my front porch apart in preperation and had all my firearms and ammo pulled out of all the closets so i could load em in there when it was installed

I bought mine from a local locksmith company. The owner and myself moved it into my house. Im not too fond of just anybody knowing that I have a safe, where it is, and what may be in it. At least with a reputable and local locksmith, I know he is bonded and aint goin nowhere (been in business over 60 years).

Good GAWD man! That went on a slab on grade I hope
Nah, just put it in the front yard in the dirt. I figure after a couple good rains no one could possibly steal it.

We got a 35 gun griffin concrete lined fire safe, 1240lbs empty, if any one on here is looking to get a hell of a safe check them out. They put money, guns, and ammo in one, then made a giant pile of pallets and burned it till the fire went out on its own. Ammo didnt go off, guns survived, money was a little wet, but that burned hotter and longer than a normal house fire.

Here is a link to them burning it:

I used an appliance dolly and one friend for mine. Wasn't too bad, not as many steps though.

This has turned into an ordeal. BUT, getting the free delivery and install, and at the very least some form of discount. The wife is PISSED, and has now unhooked my reins....so shits really gonna happen now. Talked to 5he mac daddy manager today and he had nooooo idea this was going on. Cant even get a call back from the delivery company. The ol lady said SHE was going to go up there and raise hell.....which is never good, considering she bitched at me when i told her i was going to go up there to find out what was going on.

I just want my damn safe

Delivery will be between 5-7pm monday bc they arent in my area except on mondays. Which means it could have already been here if the ass managers at gander hadnt drug their feet. Delivery company said they only deliver between 9-5 so i said tough shit let gander pay you extra to deliver after hours. Received a phone call from their rep saying that would be fine. I am supposed to call gander mooresville's top dog manager once it has been delivered to discuss my future discount or in store credit. Definitly aggravated something this simple has been turned into a pita, but it appears to finally be on the way to being resolved.
