stolen doors legal question

how is it insurance fraud b/c i want my shit fixed with OEM parts....

They are implying you lost your doors and reported them stolen.

Took them off somewhere and didn't think anyone would take them... but were so thrilled to get them off you didn't think. So you return from driving around listening to your Britney Spears tunes with your friends to find your doors stolen. Your a quick thinker, you know your parents will kill you if you lost your doors, I mean how stupid does that sound "Mom, Dad, I lost my jeep doors" So you make up this ruse to cover your ass.

In response to your message, I can be a douche too. :fuck-you:

I don't think he's trying to commit insurance fraud... and he got some really good answers in that first page on how to deal with the ins. company and the repairs...

but he got offended when someone offered to buy it from him but didn't want to pay what he wanted... if you look at his other threads, everything recent has been about this jeep and how the engine dogged and something was wrong with the clutch and transmission... and how much he loves riding around without the doors.

I kinda thought that was funny. Not everyone has my sense of humor.

flame more.

every quote ive gotten is more then 75% of the value of the vehicle

and my Jeep is quoted at being worth 7,700

repairs at 6,190 ( doors,console, and dash)

Aftermarket doors are not made to be exactly the same as OEM doors.

Also , who takes their doors off anywhere but their garage.
and i own my Jeep not my mom and pops sir.

leave doors in the woods, that's beyond special ed.

Why did they tear up the dash stealing the doors? Was it that they were trying to get the CD player out or they just thrashed it for no reason?Seems weird, you haven't been driving someone else's Girl around in that thing, explaining to her the greatness of not having doors have you??

Maybe.
but, it dosn't matter.
The insurance company isn't required to pay for OEM doors. Nor are they required to pay for new doors. B/c, as mentioned, the doors that were on ther WEREN'T NEW.

just like if you have a busted fender or tail light or bumper, they just have to pay for one that fits/matches.

Im sorry to say but these guys are right. In NC they dont have to give you brand new OEM doors. Im also sitting here trying to figure out how stealing doors and tearing up a dash would cost 6200k? What did they take a sledge hammer to it? I for one wanna see some pics of this.

Anyway, I rear-ended a guy with my tahoe and the insurance adjuster came out the next day to put the claim through. The night before, i had my dad (who does body work for a used car lot back home) look up in his manual for how much he could get the parts and paint for. So i already had the quote myself of what it would cost with non OEM spec parts (which doesn't hurt the value of the vehicle, but totaling it out and buying it back does), and so the guy wouldn't screw me on the cost of the parts. So to say the least, i did all the work myself and got paid the 500 allowed for the allotted labor charges. (only had to do the fender, grill, turn signal light and some brackets that hold the turn signal and headlight.) This was NOT insurance fraud, i just did the work that someone else would have had to do and got paid for it.

Oh yeah who is your insurance company?

What i am saying is, Dont total it out unless it really is a total loss, and you only want parts off of it. Instead, for doors and a dash, find used replacements so that if you go to sell it later you wont take the hit of having to sell it with a salvage title, and it does kill the value.

Can you post pick of the dash and console damage? You know you can get OEM doors used don't ya? They would cost way less than $1000 each including painting and installation.

My repair bill for the 2 junkyard used doors recycled from an auto parts exchange, interior handles, interior panels, straps, linkages for exterior handles, window crank, glass window, mirrors, exterior handle was $4200.
The doors were $750 each and that's only the metal frame. - then they had to paint them and repaint the side of the 10 year old jeep to match the new doors.
New stickers on each side - Wrangler, 4.0L and Saraha were 100 dollars in parts each side...

point being - it all adds up after parts, installation, and paint labor.

You, or your insurance company, got the complete shaft. That is all. Those doors should have cost maybe 100-150 a piece from a JY, paint would cost in the 500ish range for 2 doors, eh, maybe about 1000-1200 total IMO.

Looks like the going rate for junkyard 2000 TJ doors is $250-450/ea. for full glass roll-up windows... complete.

1) Just looking at averages used full doors are $450-600 each from my normal salvage suppliers, a complete dash is around $300, and a oem console used is about $80. They aren't required to paint both sides of the truck to match, only to blend to match in most cases, if your paint is faded badly they don't even have to do that. So, figuring high on the price end for doors, you have maybe $1700 in parts before painting with the decals, call me crazy, but painting the whole Jeep and LineX'ing the tub can be done for less than the remaining $4500.

2) actual cash value of your jeep is only $7500 to the "don't know any betters" that pay too much for them, unless you happen to have about $3000 left in the glovebox at the time of sale.

Am I trying to flame you? Not at all, simply telling you that your insurance company will not overpay for repairs, and that $2000-2500 is likely all they would pay, if that for the damage. Give us some pics and I'll give you an actual estimate of what it would really cost to fix it properly.

^^^I'd take it,that's a sweet deal apparently.^^^^

Looks like a pretty bad case of AWS
Is that The American Welding Society or Alcohol Withdrawal Syndrome, neither makes very much sense to me.......
