Anybody else have something that you do that wouldn't normally be pleasing or therapeutic, but it is for you?

One of mine is finishing off a nice flat gasket surface with a clean, sharp file.

You know the plastic covering that comes on the face of steel appliances and things to keep from damage in transit?
I love to peel that off.
reeeeeaaaaal sloooooooooow.
Whenever we get new equipment at work they wait and let me do the honors.

wrapping bloody meat in saran wrap

Bushhogging. Taking the tractor over massive brier patches, or tall weeds, and making it look like a lawn is therapeutic as hell for me. Especially if my pandora is working and I've got my ear buds in

Digging with an excavator. Honestly if I won the lottery, I WOULD quit my current job, only to buy a few $Million in equipment and move dirt, be it just for me...or maybe other people if I chose

Washing shit off at work with a water hose. I used to do it at the other mill I worked at. I would go outside and grab a hose and wash shit off for 30-45 mins. Sure as hell beat scheduling, listening to employees bitch or trying to figure out how to make a $100k repair with duct tape and zip-ties.

- Running a chainsaw
- Cleaning up leaves on the lawn with my riding mower and lawn vacuum

Reading/negotiating contracts
Pressure washing
Cleaning/polishing glass
When your game plan works of what order you need to pick up which bag of groceries to comfortably take them all in one trip
transporting garbage from the little cans to the big street can in one trip
fitting 30 days of your wife's luggage into a space that only has room for a 3 day trip.

disassembling and cleaning knives and guns. Getting the blade perfectly centered and getting a smooth action and no blade play makes me real happy!

Also, sitting outside in a chair with my fav drink and just flicking a knife open and close is very relaxing to me.

washing the dishes. Plus it cleans my hands pretty well
I get this because of the perfection of a squeaky clean surface....I absolutely hate it due to my lower back. If it where 6 inches higher I could deal. My wife wouldn't see over the counter.

I'm in the wood cutting, brush hogging crowd.

Building engines, running a manual lathe and making a perfect surface finish, tinkering on CBs. I think the most fun I get is taking a few hundred dollar shit box that barely moved and making it run and drive for as cheap as possible.

Clearing underbrush. I can turn a thicket into nice undergrowth in a hurry.

Splitting wood
Clearing brush
Organizing my garage
Washing a very dirty vehicle

It’s something about being very focused on something, and getting to see actual results relatively quick that leads the great satisfaction when it’s done. I love to see the before and after in all of the above. Except splitting wood at @BigClay house. That wasn’t therapeutic at all.
