Stupid Drunk Drivers

just an FYI...concering APP football...

Supposedly after the construction of the new stadium (Im guessing it will start after football season?? Maybe not, depends on teh snow..)

but after thats done I heard we will be a 1-A team..not sure what division, ive heard SEC or ACC, and even Independent..

but yea, its grown ALOT over the years. Only thing really holding us back now is stadium size, that and we gotta have our whole team on Scholarships in order to get into the 1-A bracket.

Some points:
1) ASU football games were always well attended during my time there 94-99(5 year plan) had a blast taking down the goalposts and running them through town after beating Randy Moss and his #1 ranked thundering herd.

2) ASU is building a new stadium? Even so, forget about SEC or ACC, that will never happen. Matter of fact, I can't see them going 1-A anytime soon anyway.

3) Drunk driving is a NOTORIOUS PROBLEM between BR and Boone. Students and locals have to hit the BR bars and restaurants to get mixed drinks/shots. BR police had a roadblock on 321 nearly every weekend. The smart ones had dd's, the others got DUIs.

Sounds like the football program has come a long way over the years. I could have pulled off the road and I honestly have no clue why that never crossed my mind. One of those things that when you are in the situation it seems the things you know you should do sometimes you dont for some reason. Could have been because of the anger issues I was having at the time who knows. Anger, worry, and being on the phone with 911 caused pulling over to never cross my mind. You are correct though there are several places I could have done that.

two sources that I know are reliable because I have used them in a Political Statistics class.

Well, I guess it has to be true...

Jeepnmud74, I think it was fair to assume he was an App student, however, no matter who you said he looked like, that group would complain. Thanks for speaking your mind in our politically correct, its a crime to offend anybody, society.

OTOH, I love App. If they had an engineering program, I would have transferred there without a doubt. I love the weather, and all of the people I met who weren't hippies were all great. My girlfriend and a ton of my friends go/went there, and I go up that way every chance I get.

all of the people I met who weren't hippies

How hard is it to find a non-hippie in Boone? That's gotta take some serious effort. Is there a proven strategy?

jeepin matt...NORC out of the University of Chicago is the foremost authority in survey research and the US census bureau is fairly thorough...so yea, they probably are true, but doest matter...krehel was just speakin about his personal experience and thats good input.

anyway hahaha App will never be ACC. UNCW would probably kill you in Basketball, you could not hang with a single ACC team!

uMMMMMM.
This is NOT the year for an ACC fan to be talking shizzzit.

Im betting in a rematch APP would be UNC, Duke easily and Virginia, Maryland and FSU possibly.

I go to school at App and I can say personally from all the drinking done within the group of people I hang out with, no one has even thought about driving and if they did they would quickly have their keys taken away. Which is not to say it isn't a problem just saying that don't get a bad view of App students because of this incident. That sorry asshole doesn't deserve to go to college.

Jeepnmud, Glad to hear your family is safe.

As for Metto, almost 24 hrs later and still no response/apology. I think we all know who's a little bitch.

And if you HAD pulled off the road, and this guy had zoomed on past you, still bobbing and weaving, you might not have known where he finally turned off, and those cops would never have been waiting for him to go right past their station... and he just might have gone ahead and killed himself or someone else or both.

So if you think about it that way, it's a good thing you didn't, isn't it?

As for whether or not he was a student, IT DOESN'T MATTER! He was either drunk or high, he was driving erratically, and he WAS, in fact a danger to himself and anyone else on that road.

I do not regret any decisions I made that day. At least with hin behind me and my knowing what condition he was in I could watch him and stay out of his way. I did the right thing I believe and know what else if Ioffended anyone by saying he was young and possibly a college student on game day oh well I don't care.
