I have heard people talk about fishing there and some wheeling. Who on here has some more info on it? I want to try some place different that is closer to Wilmington. Let me know the details please.
 
Used to go fishin off the "dam" out there and just rode out there seen a ram stuck in the mud there, and gone shootin a few times.
 
Unless your going to put a boat in to fish there's not much worth driving down from Jacksonville for. If you come down I40 take exit 416. Either A or B bu can't remember it. It'll be the exit going to Myrtle Beach/ Shallotte. That will be I140. Follow it to where it ends at US 421. At the bottom of the ramp take a left. Couple hundred yards down on the right will be Station 51 ( New hanover county fire/rescue) Make a left onto the rd next to it and follow it down to the end where the rd turns to gravel and continue down.
 
it's a little fun, a few dunes, some trails that are just sand, and then some mud that gets pretty nasty. Let me know when you're going to go, my and my buddies will come out and we can all play.
 
search google or youtube for videos, plenty of people on quads, jeeps, or shooting. all same place
 
its owned now by the power company, was used for sand at some point. you pass the power company that owns it on the way in. You can fish at the lake, ride atv's, dirt bikes, target practice, and just drive around as long as you don't go past the signs that say "No tresspassing" that's the limit where it changes to just the easement on private property. and also, no shooting towards the road, the telephone poles or winching to them. as long as their power lines aren't hurt they are ok with whatever. and o yeh, no littering/pick it up if you can.
i've even seen a sheriff out there just chillin and enjoying the activities.
 
i think i might get verification about this from Mr. John Q. Powercompany before heading out there.

If you go wheeling with XJ.....take a life raft.
 
lol life raft. it's too cold now for playing in the mud and water. i use my other cherokee on the sand and street, and don't try to go swimming with it.

i'll see if i can get something in writing to share with all next time i'm there to ease everybody's worries.

Trust me man been out there many a times for shooting, while the DOC was right down the way and got no complaints at all.
 
jeffrey dahmer killed people many times before going to jail.

I learned the hard way when i was young that just because you've been somewhere alot doesnt make it legal, just means youve gotten away with it so far.
 
well im also factoring in the fact that there are signs, ALOT of people go out there, and i personally havent had any problems there, and neither has anyone else i know thats been out there.
 
Hey im all up for not being on land your not supposed to be on.
I would think if they had any big problem out there with anything than they would have some kind of no trespassing signs and such.
Like i said ive been shootin out there with the cops/doc bout 2-300 yards away and had no problem at all.
 
there are signs half way down the trail that say no trespassing past this point. stay on the correct side and there's no problems.
 
lol, so trespassing is legal til ya get to that sign?

i'm not giving ya'll a hard time just to be a douche. i've already learned my lesson about trespassing, just trying to save ya'll $1500 and protect the reputation of wheelers.

From what i can tell, the signs start on the easement that is private property. So that means the owner of the land that is used by the power company doesnt want anyone on there except for the Power Co. The power company does not have any signs up....is that right?

just to let you guys know...and i can get the statute number if you need it, being on property owned by a utilities company is illegal in NC without specific written permission. That means they dont have to put up signs to press trespassing charges.
 
no, the tresspassing signs start at the end of the power companys part....then like 500 yards down, theres signs naild to the trees to mark where it goes from power company /state owned to private property with an easement, and i've talked to the guy who owns it and put up the signs, him and buddies hunt back there, so they don't want people driving in their area because they don't want to worry about anyone getting hurt by a stray bullet

working on getting it all edited up so that it looks like you got stuck BEFORE i tried and made it haha
not really though, it's just taking some time with the whole motivation part.

I found like 3 pictures i can post up or send you if you'd like.

also, when the winch line broke and shot under James liberty, it cut the cable for his CB antenna :lol:
 
I made it through....then erik, being such a nice guy, went in in 2wd, burried the rear, then 4 and burried all 4 tires, so now if you don't have tires bigger than 40" or you don't hit it at 40mph you prolly won't make it.
