Tahoe tow Question

Bumping this up because I am in the process of buying a trailer and I plan on towing with my 1999 Tahoe with the 5.7. I it has a stock tranny cooler.

The trailer is a Kauffman 20 ft that weighs 2500 lbs, has brakes on both axles. I will be towing my grand cherokee (think it weighs around 4000 lbs, is that a good estimate?).

I am going to run a weight distributing hitch and obviously a brake controller.

So what are your opinions, is this going to work? Any other things I should do (cheap because $ is getting tight)?

Free up the intake and exhaust, maybe get a tuner. Then you should be good to go. On my 5.3 01 tahoe i have pulled multiple vehicles and boats behind it with no problems i only have exhaust too.

I have a K&N drop in filter, but stock exhaust

go find a bigger cooler for that tranny. That will help you alot long term but 6500 lbs is alot of weight

Oh i forgot to mention an electric fan upgrade. That will help too!

A bigger tranny cooler will be on the list; however, an electric fan might be out of the budget right now, but if this becomes a long term tow rig, I will definitely.

Thanks guys, anyone else?
