Taking Forever...the Willys Build

If I could do this on a concrete floor with jack stands and some time I think I could. Actually, I would build my own frame and be done with it. I need a place for the orange Jeep to sit while I build the frame though.

goto harbor freight and get a big tarp and some bungee straps. Problem solved.

but she's my baby. would you leave your baby wrapped in a HF tarp and bungee cords? If the answer is yes I'm going to call DSS.

Well then you should spring for the heavy mil tarp vs the thin shit. If you are really particular, you could just drop the coin on a metal carport to park it in.

Agreed... Unless you're shooting a full on restoration vs. restofication, how is a 2" diff in WB an issue? :D

A 2" difference can be a deal breaker in a lot of situations.

That's what she said.

I'm not looking for a full blown restoration but I thought it would be cool to have a lot of original parts. Plus, it's not every day you can wheel the old iron. I think building my own frame will be lighter and cleaner in the end.

My frame is about like yours. I'm going to level it and patch it. But I'm not going to wheel mine, hell, I probably won't even restore it (yeah right!) I'll do a build thread eventually. As soon as I bought it I started cutting off fingers, gashing my arm, etc., so my progress has been slowed a bit...

All I have to update is that I ordered the steel for the frame and sent the cab off to be sandblasted and primered. Pics on its return.

OK, not much has changed since the last update. I got the steel from Jodi and will have the cab back at the end of the week. Hopefully, this weekend I'll be smoking some ribs on Saturday and building a frame.

I also sold the drivetrain with frame and axles. Somebody really wanted it so I thought why not. On a side note, I'm looking for a 4.8 or 5.3 to put in this thing.

You're telling me. I posted it Tuesday and by Wednesday it was gone. The cab is getting blasted today and I've got the steel. If they can finish it I'll start putting the frame together this weekend.
