Speaking from experience? Have you been genetically tested and hip certified?
So just a word about "hip certified"...
I have a 13, about to turn 14 year old lab here that is living proof of the issue here.
Years ago I used to field trial Labs. We also bred them and "out trained"...honestly I still miss it it felt like meaningful work - but I digress.
I had 2 blue ribbon dogs - Each "Excellent" Hip certified. Also known as "Diamond Certified"...genetically it is supposedly impossible for them to throw a severe dysplastic. I knew these dogs back 8 generations. Wonderful workers, disposition, everything.
"Swamper" (named by my son because he was big black and loud like daddy's tires) was born dysplastic - or at least diagnosed at 3 months.
We elected to have surgery and pay for hip reconstruction...and have pain managed him for his entire life. Meaning he gets limited exercise or he hurts for a week or more. (whole other side bar - what his life has turned into breaks my heart but I cant put him down hes too happy) ...
So just know that all the certs in the world are just best guesses.
all that said
I don't like being called a bullshitter and a.scammer or a douche
A dog that's had a thourough exam by a vet and passed is a healthy dog period. Doodle or heinz 57 I'd pick a dog that hasn't had it's traits bred to death in a limited gene pool.
The only thing Id take exception to is this - some goldendoodle can be bred to be "hypoallergenic"..but not all. But anyone can breed a golden to a poodle and call it a golden doodle and claim it to be hypoallergenic. When in actuality it takes a special combo and even then about 20%.
There is even a couple in Rock Hill breeding poodle and yellow labs and caling them golden doodles...Ive met them and had them tell me a golden retreiver and a yellow lab are the same dog...these folks are getting $5k per dog. This is the type of thing you have to guard against. Without an AKC brand standard you have no protection. Whether the breeder is dishonest or ignorant..
