tbi fuel sytem?

Yeah you're gonna be chasing wires I'd make sure part of the harness isn't pinched by the bell housing. I've got to clean up the wiring on my k5 and replace some connectors.

i installed a new trans at the same time as motor so not pinched between them. maybe between the block and firwall.
 
There are a lot of ground and stuff bolted to the back of the passenger side head

You can back probe each individual wire at the ECU. I'll try to find a pin out diagram, but just look on google.

You can use mig wire to stick into the back of the connector without unplugging from the computer.

This way you can check a lot of wires quickly and rule some things out.

Verify you have 12v + where necessary, (-) where you need it, and any (0-5v) where necessary.

Next hot wire the pump and make sure you are getting fuel to the throttle body.
Check the pressure, and pinch off return to make sure regulator is working.

ended up goin with a stand alone harness i got from paul. then found out i had no switched ignition source to the computer. said the hell with it and went full stand alone.... shes a runnin patch of hell now.
