Here's a pic of the plug. There appears to be a raised hump that runs from the oil filter (front to back) and the boss/plug is in that hump. I'm assuming that is an oil galley (sp?), but I don't know what is supposed to be in the boss.
That is very helpful! Looks like someone may have tried to tap that on my motor for a oil temp gauge or something. I will scrape the goo out and see what we have. I'm expecting stripped threads of some sort.
I found this at Goodwill for $15. So far I upgraded the battery to a much larger lawn tractor battery. The bad thing is only high-speed works. No reverse or slow-speed. I'm wondering if I can fix the switch. I think that's where the problem is.
I also started doing some DIY beadlocks on the yota per Inchworm Gear's thread on Pirate. I made a jig from some sheet metal for the spacing. It's a bit time consuming, but $50 to beadlock both beads on all 4 wheels is much cheaper than buying the wheels! I've only done one wheel so far just to test it out, but it seems like it will work well. Admittedly, I have some air leakage somewhere even though I used RTV on all of the screws. I will have to find and fix the leakers before I do any more wheels.
I used the special fine-threaded ones that were specified in the thread. I thought I put enough silicone on each one, but maybe not. It was coming out from around the head of each screw though. I will do the soapy-water test...
