Well in an attempt to take the CJ to the Jeep Invasion instead of the JKUR, I figured I had better change a leaking rear brake cylinder. Well that led to replacing a rear hard line, which led to needing two new front soft brake line, which lead to repacking front bearing, which led to replacing hub seals. It sure isnāt like the old days when you go to the parts store and readily pick up everything you needed for this. Only thing in stock was the wheel cylinde. Hopefully parts arrive today.
Ended up having to get new brake shoes for the rear. The other ones were just too soaked with brake fluid. Then moved back to the front and closer inspection of the calipers told be to just replace them both. So that is what happened last night. Finished up packing the bearings with new seals and installing the hubs, then replaced the calipers, rubber lines and bled brakes. Should stop like a new one now. Installed new lockable center console as well and added the tow lights to hook up to the RV. Installing new windshield this evening and should be ready to roll.
All good! Trip was great, besides being hotter than hot as was pretty much everywhere. The little CJ pulled well behind the motor home and had a good time tooling around Pigeon Forge and the back country. Met up with around 50 other CJ's on Friday morning at the Walmart in PF for a meet and greet. We all left there, headed through town and took the blue ridge parkway on a scenic ride that dropped us down in Townsend. The early morning temps along with the elevation made for a super enjoyable ride.
Do you need shocks? I have a set of Monroe shocks I bought for my 79 CJ. Length to fit a 2.5" lift. Wrong ones were sent & are too stiff for me. I put about 50 miles on them & took them off. Your welcome to them if you can use them to even want to try them!
