18 jars of pickles today.

We got some decent rain today with more coming, haven’t had measurable precip in going on 3 weeks.

Corn is 7’, everything is doing very well. Tomatoes are slow to ripen but we have a lot.

Damn deer have ate a 1/4 of my green beans! Never had that happen.
Hit up your local small town barber and grab a bucket of cut hair. Amazon has small drawstring cloth bags that you can stuff and hang around. Deer will stay away for a good long while! Used to do that with all of the fresh planted sapling fruit trees every year in the orchards. Worked better than any chemical.

I wish the deer would go after mine... maybe they would atleast trample the weeds/grass down to get to them, so I dont have to fight it as much.

They will clean it up for you for sure!

Have not had deer damage but tracks all over. They did stomp my watermelon last year so I will be putting some electric wire up soon.

I am chalking this years garden a Failure! I move it to a different location with a lot more sun light figuring it would do well. Green beans were going strong until the deer found them and ate 3/4 of the plants. Not enough to can The bell peppers had lots of blooms, but the peppers were really small. The cucumbers are vined all over the fence and blooms everywhere but very few cucumbers. not enough to can Tomatoes, man they were beautiful, tall and loaded with tomatoes. Then Bloom rot set in where the bottom starts to rot the tomato. almost all the red ones have this as well as some green ones. Again, not enough to can any this year. Jalapeno and zucchini did well, but I think they would grow anywhere. Gonna have the soil checked and see what it needs for next year. Damnit anyway

Sounds like you need a bee hive. I have heard of a number of friends comment about the pollinator count this year seems low. I have been seeing some, but they are down in my garden too. I chalked mine up to the hive at my house dying over the winter, but maybe there is more at play.

Blossom end rot is typically caused by low calcium numbers in the soil. The crazy rain patterns we have had dont help, IMO. I suggest picking them off as soon as you notice, as they will continue to grow. If you have indeterminate tomatoes, they will continue to grow and put on fruit until frost, so dont give up completely.

Eggshells scattered around the base of the plant will help that calcium deficiency
I'm having the same issue with tomatoes gonna try the eggshells. I was talking to a few old timers and they mentioned epsom salt, sounds like it does the same as eggshells. My squash and zucchini is petering out so I'm trying a second planting hopefully it works out.

Just a pic dump. Garden has run us ragged for weeks. Canner and vacuum sealer running all the time. Did 63qts of green beans (gave away 6 bushels), bunch of corn, many pounds of zucchini and squash and peppers and pickles out the wazoo. Tomatoes are about to overrun our position but we have to keep fighting 😂

What do we do now? Go ahead and dig them?

Are they a waste now?
On another note a few green pepper plants have done well.
IMG_20220826_193942928.jpg
And a couple Ground Cherries.

Steady flow of Jalapenos and Banana peppers too. Maters made a come back. Got 30 lbs or so. They are just getting going good.
I asked @ponykilr several question because I thought they was doomed.

If you leave those green peppers on the vine longer, they will turn red/yellow/orange and be sweeter.
