Well here it goes. I've been wanting to make a build tread for a long time but I've always been a little slow when it comes to computers.
I've had several Jeeps and even a Suzuki Samurai but this Toyota has been the most fun to me. Being a college student the money flow has kept building slow and DDing a rig is only fun for a bit till your stuck in winter with doors that don't fit anymore... When I got a Chevy the build really started to take off. It has sat alot but I've been able to wheel it off and on.
So anyways, here is how I got it from the famous Will Carters shop a little over two years ago.

82 toyota LWB Long bed
It was previously a 2wd that Will put a w56 4wd trans, 4wd from axle, 5in lift strings, hydro assist and high steer on.
It needed a lot right off the bat to get road worthy...driveshafts, tcases, crossmembers, tires, etc etc.
It was a real good platform to start on and I had to get it drivin asap because it was my only form of transportation. Luckily Boone is a real small town!!

So I started with two toy boxes, a Budbuilt crossmember, and a rear LWB driveshaft from my buddy Bruse down at Toyota Foolish located near Asheville.

By the way...my apartment complex immediately hated me..no garage = kitchen floor. hahah

They you walk out one morning and the maintenance man of the apartment complex breaks into your truck taking your tools and slapping a citation on the windshield.. so you get your tools back, work faster, and pray to God that they don't open up the door to check fire alarms and see the pile of tires and parts stacked all over the place. haha

A few months past and the carb on the 22r was starting to give me more troubles each day. It got to the point where I didn't even want to wheel it because it just never wanted to start on inclines at all.
So I came across a 2wd 94 Toyota pickup that had rolled on the interstate and was twisted up pretty bad. I pulled the wiring, 22re motor, computer, plumbing, gas tank, and gages out for donor. I also scored a IFS rear for cheap from my buddy Jordan Mattar. At this point we started to rent one of Will Carters old storage buildings somewhat close to town. It was nice not having to work out of a parking lot for a change.
Not to mention...I got the truck for 300$ and the scrap was 150$

Luckily, I was able to get everything done right before the big Harlan Kentucky trip. We stayed up all night to do timing chain, oil pump, water pump, and new oil pan seal.
The trip was awesome. Three days of wheelin, drinkin beer, campin, hangin out with everyone, and watchin the ECORS race.
Some of the trails we hit that I knew the names of were Lions Den, Can Opener and Lower Damnation. Needless to say, I had no straight panel left on it after this trip.

On that Harlan trip I tore my exhaust a little, so it entered the garage at the new house and of course...the exhaust is the last to get done. Which brings the build to recent days.
-I always hated how tall it was so I lowered it with bastard packs all around to give it about a 2-2.5in lift (instead of the five inch lift springs).
-The front axle stretched 3in due to rear main leaf up front.
-Flat belly with rear tcase mount
-Custom sliders
-Subframed Racin Seats with 5 point harness'
-No bed
-Rear radiator with Ford Taurus Fan
-Full interior cage through back of cab to frame

Robbie finally got a build thread!!!! Woooooo wooo. It's funny looking back on those pictures trying to think that it used to look like that... Deck Hill on 35s baby. Damn if it hasn't gone through some build stages. And yes, it is much faster than Sam's jackstand buggy :flipoff2:

Found a 22R truck today... bought it... might be swapping the RE stuff over to the block if it's in good shape.

Im glad everyone is pickin up hahah. I knew it wouldn't take long.

I did buy another 300$ truck today for parts. It is an 84 extended cab 22r, 4wd, solid front axle pickup. This time it will be a 22r EFI conversion rather than the 94 22re motor but everything is donor at this point.

Brandon sang the Jamaican Bob sled quote as we pushed this 84 toyota across a field today to get it up on a trailer!! We all about lost it from laughin as each of us stopped pushing momentum to keep it from sinking in the weeds.

Is the plan for the truck or the build to be faster than Sam's?
Build you are already there.

this reminds me of my sas, "what can we do this weekend and still have it drivable for work monday"

Ahhh there is a crack in the radiator...or something.

This is Robbie wrenching on the engine donor truck he picked up last night.

Well of course it won't be faster than sams RON, but if I could, it would be haha.
Right now the plan is to possibly be a 84 block and head 22r to EFI swap from my 94 motor. Something inside on the 94 block sounds like a marble in a soup can.
I got the 22r running today and it sounds like a pretty sound motor but I might do a full rebuild on the good motor just for piece of mind.
If I do this, then I will have done a 22r, 22re, 22r to 22re Hybrid thing in this truck. It will be alot of work but I guess "its the name of the game" situation.
