So I messed up my tax return and the feds said I owed them $19k. I redid my forms and found out they actually owed ME $600ish dollars. So they gave me a refund, with interest.

I just got a letter saying that I need to pay like $15 in taxes on the interest they paid me.

Think about that one for a while.
 
Similar thing happened to us.
Idiots I used to work for messed up big time 3 years ago.( they don't exist anymore)
75% of the ex-employees got nailed last year, they got the rest of us this year.
Said we owed $3000.00.
Sure enuff, we proved them wrong, but according to the sister company ..... the actual payrool office that messed up .... it would take a CPA to fix it.
Wife did it 10 minutes on the phone.
Then they tell us we owe them $200.00 because of an improper credit without proof.
Yep! they're wrong again, the the educational facility had to produce a letter as proof.
The office my wife dealt with told us that they have never done anything the gubment said was wrong.

My NC DOR story is even better. So I have been fighting shit on the audit with them since it started. Initially they said I owed $1900. I redo the taxes and they accept it and send me an $8 refund. Then about 6 months later I get another letter saying they were wrong and sent me ANOTHER $81 refund. A couple months after that they send me a BILL for the taxes of that year for $250. My wife says "fuck it, just pay it so we can be done with them." I go online, put in all the numbers, and pay the money.

3 months later I get a bill for $275. I am fuming. I call the DOR and they say "that $250 you paid was applied to your 2017 taxes, the $275 was the $250 you never paid plus $25 interest since you didn't pay." I was like "I paid you the $250, why didn't you apply it to my 2014 tax bill?" She was like "we got your payment, but you put it towards your 2017 bill." Goes back and forth, I'm like "I put in the numbers on your webpage and paid it" and she's like "you owe us $25 interest for not paying it" and finally I literally yell at the top of my lungs "WHY THE FUCK WOULD I PAY $250 TOWARDS MY 2017 TAXES WHEN I HAVE AN OUTSTANDING 2015 TAX BILL?" She gave me her same annoyed "you paid for your 2017 taxes, so you still owe us for 2014." So I completely explode. "I WILL PAY THIS FUCKING BILL NOW TO GET OFF THE PHONE WITH YOU BECAUSE YOU HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY WORTHLESS. I'M TIRED OF GETTING YOUR FUCKING LETTERS, I'M TIRED OF YOUR BULLSHIT, I DON'T WANT ANOTHER FUCKING LETTER FROM YOU WHEN I PAY THIS, DO YOU FUCKING UNDERSTAND?" and then I follow with "IF I GET ANOTHER LETTER I AM GOING TO PAY MY 2017 TAXES WITH A DUMPTRUCK FULL OF FUCKING PENNIES ALL OVER THE GODDAMN STREET IN FROM OF YOUR BUILDING"

She hung up on me. I never got another letter from them. :lol:
