Is there an official thread on the SHOP closing?

There is a guy I know that has a property in a different location that wants to open a park. I might be able to help make connections.

I heard landowner was the problem? So you know this guy, and now he wants to run it himself? Or am I confused on what you’re asking?

Ahh gotcha, makes more sense now.

I’m always in favor of more places to ride, and don’t mind helping out cutting trails and such. Jeep is updated on any developments!

From their facebook page.

Well that sucks! I'd be interested in helping cut trails too if a new place comes up.

I am all for cutting trails on my property in Pinnacle if anyone wants to help. But it would be available to ride invite-only on scheduled dates. By invite only that pretty much means if you help cut trails you are invited. So if anyone local wants to help hit me up, logging roads already exist to get close to the obstacles. There is plenty of mild stuff and plenty of stupid ridiculous stuff too.

I’d be in on that, that’s not very far from me! How many acres?

I'm down for that.

53. It is STEEP haha. Pretty much impassable if it is wet. It is tough getting up the DRIVEWAY if it is wet, even with 8x8. I have been to the very top on an ATV (and flipped it about 5 times on the way back down). Been almost to the top on my RZR. LOTS of trails and connector trails that need to be cleared, some of it I can do with skid steer, dozer, or excavator, but the vast majority it would just be easier to do with a chainsaw and a few guys. Also a big rock garden near the top. The hillclimb to get to the top is steep, easy for a RZR, not sure how a Jeep would do.

My plan would be clear a couple trails at a time, basically to not spend the whole day working. All I have to wheel currently is a RZR.

If anyone's up to help, I am ready whenever :) haha

Don't really want to do any clearing past about April/May as it will be too hot, if anyone is available to help this Saturday the 9th let me know and I can plan for it. Bring a Jeep, RZR, whatever. First trail to clear would be the main trail to the top, a large oak is blocking it at the top.

I'm off this weekend, I was going to take my son snowboarding though. I'm off next weekend also though.

Will Sarge be available for petting and such?

I would be getting a lawyer and suing him for the land improvements that were made and the lost revenue for the duration of the contract. If it is less than small claims amount would take him to small claims court and not use a lawyer but would stick it to him either way.

As my Mamaw would say ya can’t squeeze blood from a turnip. Sometimes it’s better to just walk away. Don’t know the specifics of the agreement but what would suck more, just walking away or fighting it in court and wasting lots of $$$$ and time then walking away? Now a well placed match on the other hand as Matt would say.

Like I said do the math. If it is under the small.claims court limit it is pretty cheap to file and serve just to waste his time. If over it then how much that would determine if a lawyer was worth it.

How many people worked on it? For how many hours. Even at $20 an hour it adds up fast. I know we wanted to book it this spring. So how many rigs times the cost per day times how many weekends you average booking it last year. That will add up fast.

I've known the real deal about the SHOP for awhile. All this speculation makes me laugh.
A Rock Corps board member shall chime in soon and clarify the facts.
Until then, blame it on me banging the land owners wife. Repeatedly. And posting it on youporn.com.

And i would REALLY like to know where @GubNi is getting his 411.
Sounds like a bad informant to me.

'Dre out...

I just double-checked to see if I put up any details of why and I didn't see any. The info I posted on here is what I saw on Facebook. The person I know that has property that he wants to make into a park has nothing to do with the current property. I have heard some rumors, but I don't think I have posted that publicly.

My name is on the lease for The SHOP. I'm no longer a Rock Corps board member, but I'm privy to what is going on.

Simply put, the landowner had an unreasonable demand for the club that is in direct violation of the legal, signed lease agreement. When those demands weren't met, he refused access to the property, again in direct violation of the lease. Factor in some legal issues the owner is facing and the club voted to disassociate ourselves with the owner and property.
We the club are owed $xxx worth of property access until the lease should expire in August. However, blood, stone, turnip, etc, there isn't any $$$ to collect.
There may be more details, but that is all that needs to be made public.
