The two pump fillup

How does that work? %on the amount charged? If so, then I see what you are saying, but I thought debit cards worked off of transaction fees every time you swiped your card.

That's only for when you use a card inside the store. Fee's vary from .20 to .75 plus a small percentage... just depends on the card. That's why a lot of stores don't like it for you to use a card to pay for a few bucks worth of stuff. Sucks to lose money on a sale because someone had to bust out their debit card for a 99 cent Coke.

And Ron's right about wanting you to come inside. The store I work part time at doesn't make hardly anything on fuel. Only reason they sale it is because if they didn't then no one would stop there. (oil companies are screwing the stores over just like the rest of us)

If I sucked a bunch of crude out of the ground, toted it halfway round the earth, turned it in to gasoline and brought it damn near to every ungrateful SOB in the world's doorstep, I'd want at least $5 a gallon. Beats walkin.

That is interesting. What makes it different being outside? I'm still swiping my card twice, and entering my PIN twice, just like if I went inside and bought a drink, then decided I was hungry and got back in line and bought a bag of chips.

I do remember reading that the high flow rate on the big truck side can damage the fuel level senders on the Dodge if run wide-open..

Fortunately, even the first click on those nozzles is pretty dang quick.

LOL, Tony's fuel sender doesn't work anyway. (smilie of dude walking right here, lol)

I didn't know that, and I occassionally fill up at the big truck pumps at the Citgo near my work. I always have it wide open too.

I have no idea why it's like that and it may vary from store to store.

I think you're talking about the cash vs credit prices...?
I've been buying at Sheetz ($100 to cutoff, still can't get a full tank) or the truck stop. Those fawkers with $50 and $75 cutoffs don't get my business anymore.

Nope. When i was at a truck stop in Conover, I pulled up to the truck pumps so I didn't have to fight the cars at the car pumps while I had the trailer and the buggy....

Cashier told me inside that if I pulled to the car pumps it was $.04 cheaper per gallon.. I asked why and she said the truckers get added "free" services like free air, water, and whatever else...

Of course, I pulled over to the car pumps...

I like getting the two pumps going at the same time. The truck in the front and the boat in the back. But that doesn't happen very often, but when it does it will put a dent in your account.

I fill up at Quality in Morganton, I usually fill up when I hit 1/4 tank, usually takes $90 to $95 at $4 a gallon. I've never had the pump cut me off.

What I did notice, is that the transaction is "pending" for the amount of $1 for 3 to 4 days before it finally comes out.... :shaking:

As far as profit for the gas station, I worked at a garage in Swannanoa back in the early 90's, gas was .90 to .95 a gallon. Our profit was only about .05 to .08 a gallon. After you figure in pump maintenance, taxes, fees etc.... we barely broke even on gas! Just kept it to bring in buisness for the garage.

As far as profit for the oil companies? Yeah we're getting shafted. The last time the price per drum set record highs, so di the price at the pump. When the price per drum droped, prices at the pump droped only half as much as drum price.

IMO, if the government really wanted to fix the economy, they would set a price ceiling for gas, say..... $2. BUT, when the government is ran by contributing corporations....... well you get teh point.....

The profit per gallon hasn't changed much at all since then.
