Thinking about getting the jeep painted

I'm buying a 97 g cherokee. it's that dark purple color (not my style). I'm getting it for the 5.2 v8. So, the purple needs to go...quick. I'm not familiar with this rattle can stuff, where can I get it?

I truly hope you are kidding? Walmart, Home Depot....what we are talking about here is a "Spray can" of paint, called rattle can because of the little ball inside used to "mix" the paint when you shake it...

The flat green the military uses is REALLY high $$$ per quart/gallon. I imagine Rustoleum makes something close enough for much much much cheaper.

Because I haven't posted this link in a while, here is a $80 paint job article I wrote a while back.

Keep the purple and call it the purple people eater!

So you are saying to wash the jeep really good, sand the factory paint and then paint it? Did you not use any primer? Where exactly do you buy paint to paint a vehicle with?
The only reason to use primer is to have something forthe paint to stick to. if you've already got paint on it that isn't all rusty or peeling, sand it and paint over it. You sand it so the paint has tiny imperfections to adhere to.

As for where you get rattlecan paint, I got mine at Wal-Mart. I figured it was the best redneck place to get a redneck paint job. Had to go to 3 different Wal-Marts to get enough to do the whole truck though.

sorry fellas, I'm an ex-yankee, I've never heard the term rattle can in my life. what's the best kind to use. I used that epoxy appliance paint on some rims and it turned out great. It's been a year and no chips

I wasnt sure if we were still talking about rattle can jobs or not, I knew where to get that kind of paint. Ive never really looked for the OD color in rattle can but ill keep my eyes open, think im gonna call some local paint shops as well and go from there. By the way, the clear coat on my hood is peeling but not the paint, would that make a difference in the sanding and applying paint method?
