Those cohabitating SOBs! I hope they don't start interbreeding!

You have the worst luck with ground wasps. Didn't we find two separate nests when I was there?

Edit, actually, I think it was one ground wasp nest and 2 or 3 paper wasp nests in the tractor.

So how do you kill these things??? I was pissing out of my garage a week or so ago...and noticed I had a ground swarm of little black/yellow flying things with stingers. Usually I’ll pour gas down the hole and stuff it with a rag. But this one is right up against the house in a flower bed. Multiple different airborne pest sprays haven’t begun to make a dent in killing them.

Only thing I've found that quickly and reliably kills them is Spectracide wasp and hornet killer. Brake parts cleaner also does the trick.

Yes, and I'm pretty sure that's about the only one I've ever found without getting stung 10 times first, haha.

Yeah that was @mommucked I thought that method was great!!

The shop fan is perfect in tight spaces/close to the house, more effective/quicker than out in the open. The trick is to set the switch on high and hook/tie it to an extension cord. Then place it (mine rolls) w the backside centered inches from the hole 3 or 6" is fine. Do it quickly and get away quickly and you won't get stung. Then plug in the cord and they will kill themselves by attacking or just getting sucked into the fan while exiting or attempting to enter their nest.

Last time I got into a nest was under the seat of a picnic table, I was weedeating close it and they lit me up! I was camping and didn't have any spray close by, so I went to the truck and got the 12 gauge, couple rounds of bird shot, no more nest.

I just use a shot of gas , like a bottle cap full down the hole after dark ,then cover the hole .the fumes will kill them...

If your looking for a non-poison method, here’s what I use in my garden

Get some dish soap and a garden hose.
Wait till dark so they are all in the nest
Keep lights off the hold, dump soap in hole. Like a lot.
Stuck hose in hole and turn it on. Go have about 3 beers, watch or for the floaters, they can still sting.
Watch and laugh.
Flip them off/cuss them if it makes you feel better.

If there in the side of a building,

Get a shop vac
Fill about 1/3-1/2 full of water, add a lot of soap, put the top on the shop vac. Make sure there’s a filter on it, be ready to get a new one

Tape hose to long stick
Turn vac on
Stuff hose in side of building where they are flying out

The soap clings to there wings, and they drown I. The water.

If you use he first method, make damn sure it’s well dark out. Those bastards will come out in numbers.

A similar non-poison method I used with success was to boil a couple gallons of water with a good squirt of dish soap mixed in and pour it down the hole after dark. They drown AND burn!
