I just wanted to give everyone a reminder to pay attention while you're outdoors and be on the look out for ticks. We were crawling in east TN this wknd one of our guys found 2 lone star ticks on him. One of our members was bitten by one of these last yr and now has an allergic reaction to meat and pork. I personally would rather lose a couple fingers vs giving up those foods!

I had 5 or 6 on me today just from walking to the back of the field behind my shop after my dog ran off. I believe I got them all off me. I don't want any ticks in my crotch area, that's for sure!

Ive had three bite me in the last two weeks, the wife has had one,and I pulled one off my three year old son.thats not counting any of the ones that we found before the got to bite us.ticks are bad this year

I just herd of the lone star tick yesterday. Guy at work was bit..now has allergies to red meat. I've herd there are many lone star tick cases in nc.

Had one on me yesterday.

I haven't ever seen so many is such a short period of time as I have this year. Even one randomly crawling up the wall in out kitchen...

Yeah they do seem bad this year. We took a short hike around a city lake in greensboro, and found probably 2-3 ticks per person (5 of us). One buried in my sons ballbag (he found that), one in my pubes. These were the 'normal' sized ones, there were also some smaller ones, I thought those might be a deer tick.

Ive only found one on me so far, he hadn't latched on yet. Ive been doing alot of yard work so its not for a lack of being outside. The dogs on the other hand have had several. We recently just washed them and dosed them with their flea and tick drops.... I think I would just have to buy stock in epi pens if I found out I couldnt eat bacon....

We were at the beach before Memorial Day, and went on a bike ride through the forest. Most of us ended up getting ticks on us. I found one on my leg that was latched on. I don't know which type it was. The spot where he was started to itch about 2 days later, and itched for several days.

I love cow. I guess I better put on an anti tick collar.

Had one on me yesterday.
A tick, or a collar? :D

Had a tick on me about a week ago while at my parent's house, wasn't in the field but maybe 5 minutes to unhook a bush hog from the tractor. Haven't seen any on us or our dogs at our property yet though.

We lived at an apartment complex in Salisbury a few years ago, I think I was pulling about 4-5 a week off of me and twice as many from the dogs all summer. That place was infested.

Pulled three of them off of Sara after going to an outdoor wedding last night. One lone star, one dog, one deer.

I was more worried about chiggers than I was ticks when I walked through the field the other day, but damned if them little jokers didn't get on me as soon as I stopped to holler for my dog! So far, I haven't had one latched on me. No clue what kind of ticks they were, I just prefer not to be bitten by any of them. I need to re-up my dog's heartworm/flea/tick pills too, come to think of it.

Definitely don't forget about your pets this time of year.

Had to pull one off my wife last night that was attached. Came out clean though.

Was hoping the decent cold we had this year would help us out but it seems to have done the opposite. They were bad the last workday in URE also.

I'm on my fourth bite this year, just being outside in my yard. Same reaction to all the bites, about a half dollar sized red spot that itches like crazy and hurts when the water hits it in the shower. I hate those fuggin things......

I've always heard it takes 7 straight days of consistent sub freezing temperatures to begin to effect them. Unfortunately I don't recall that ever happening east of the nc mountains in my lifetime.
