tin foil hat

I dont mind the cold and the constant daylight/night would probably bother me for the 1st month, and you do get a check for the oil companies ravaging the land there so thats a plus.. But I read that groceries and whatnot are so expensive.. Like a gallon of milk is $8 or something ridiculous... So I would have to find a good paying job there! Im just tired of the way things are headed here in America.. (not to sound unamerican) but Soc. Sec. will be non-existant, taxes are outrageous, gas is getting higher and higher, and so on. Like this posts states, we arent headed in a good direction and there may be nope hope for turning it around..

Yea trial hugger.. The west doesnt sound bad! ...On another note, you think they will legalize maryjane? It seems to be spreading like wildfire in the west, hell I hear colorado has mobile dispenseries.. I think that would boost our economy as well

You should read Emergency: This Book Will Save Your Life by Neil Strauss. It is about a guy learing to be self-sufficient and survive without the system... and then basically deciding to put his new-found disaster knowledge to good use by becoming an emergency first-responder and being part of the solution.

Jebus, this thread is all over the place.

and, NO....the West sucks....I wouldn't bother.

If it were more on-topic it would've probably been moved to The Garage already.

but I do agree... any state collecting defectors from the Republic of California... don't bother.

Advantage 'my place'....

drop 2 bridges, and I only have to defend 1 road in/out for our little 'community' .

So Hank figured it all out in 85 huh?

Whats real interesting to me is that this boards demographic seems to skew hard to 21-35...hell if the ECORS crew is any indication 32-33 seems to be a real damn popular age. Anyway many of us are facing major cyclic changes for our first time as conscious adults. I talked to my 92 year old grandad earlier. He asked how much I;d lost in the stock market this week. Then went on to say how every decade they want to pretend like it is so bad and how he's glad I didn't live through the great depression...and how it took 15 years to fix etc.

Gotta admit it added a bit of prspctive to my day, and made me smile when he said and Gramaw's tea has been sweet through it all...
