Tow rig tire time! New question on post 25!

So, it's soon going to be time for some new treads for my Dmax. Gotta be load range E, 265/75R16. Here's what I have had so far:
245/75R16 (stock junk) on for 2 days or so
265... Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor
265... Dick Cepek Mud terrains
265... Michelin LTX M+S
The truck just hit 105k last week (bought it new, it's an 07). I used to drive A LOT! Not driving quite so much any more though. Anyways, the Michelins have by far been the quietest, best riding, and longest wearing tires I have had but, they are rather plain looking.
So, now I want to run something a bit more aggressive again (okay, a lot more aggressive). Thinking about the new Duratracs, or even the MTR Kevlars, anybody running these? How do ya like them? Any suggestions?

I have no doubt that those are a great tire but, I want a bit more aggressive!

After doing some more reading, the Kevlars are out! Seems they don't last worth a dang under a heavy diesel truck, too soft of rubber!

Duratracs? Anybody got 'em? Like 'em?

I had Duratracs on my FJ40 but it couldn't compare to the weight you have. I read an article on them and they said they were designed to be an agressive tire that you could put on your fullsize truck for like contractors and the like. Sounds like they would be up your alley. They are pretty cheap too.

That's what I'm thinking too, thanks bro! How have you liked them on your FJ40?

i almost bought the duratracs but i had three sets of tires to trade in so i went to galloways and paid half price for my atz's and they ride a hella lot better than the buckshots i had. but i really like the looks of both!

Thanks for all the input y'all! Keep it coming! I just measured my tread depth and new tires are needed (VERY) soon! I am at 4/32nds on the lowest spots of each of the 4 tires (7/32's was the highest I saw on the most unevenly worn tire), and inspection time comes up this month!!!

Totally random thought: what about Cooper STT muds? they have the right size and load rating. I run them (in a 37 inch flavor) on my K5 that weighs not but maybe 1500lbs less than my Dmax and they seem great! Anybody run them on a hevy diesel? Opinions?

Possibility as well, I've run BFG ATs before (on my ZR2 Blazer that I had) and liked them... hmm... may be a possibility.

What kinda vehicle are you running them on?

one of my buddies had the cooper stt muds on his f250 he used to have and i think he got a pretty good bit of miles out of them and inside they didnt sound or ride too bad at all, well not to me anyways but i dont know how picky you are haha

buddy of mine is running the duratracks and he said he'll never have another set of tire, says almost no noise and they clean out and dig nice on the muddy road too

Been doing some more research, looks like the Duratracs haven't been doing very well on heavy trucks. Any thoughts on Cooper Discoverer STT muds?

I'm running Nitto Trail Grapplers on my '07 duramax. I've had them on for a little over a year, and 35,000 miles. They have been good tires, probably end up getting 40k out of them. I'll probably buy another set.

I was very happy with my Stt's. At the end of one of there lives I started getting a minor leak but good thick sidewall, "quieter" on road for a MT, about 35-40k miles on my tj. Check the tire pressures often, they tend to slowly lose air.

33"Dunlop MT's is what I've got now and there not bad for the $$. although thin sidewall, there loud, and rotate often.

Do you have 265/75R16's? I can't seem to find trail grapplers listed in this size? They are awesome looking tires! I hadn't seen them before! Thanks!

I may have to stay away from them then, I am bad about forgetting to check tire pressure! Thanks!

No, sorry I run 295/70/17. The only 16 they have is 285/70/16, might be worth looking at though.

Drat! I was hoping there was a 265... and that I missed it somehow! :poop:

IDK if 285 would be a good idea for me, my truck is dead stock and has the stock 16x6.5(?) wheels, I've heard that 285's crown bad on the narrow stock rims and that 285's require a leveling kit. Sucks 'cause I love the looks of those tires! Sharp!

Back to the proverbial drawing board...

Nathan runs 315 km2s on his 3500 dually dmax. Don't know how they wear but dang they're hot!

There is less than 1mm in height difference between a 265 75 and a 285 70

Now they are 20mm wider which equals .78 inches...

Yup, it's the width that really worries me on the stock wheels. But, thanks for the clarification on height though! I didn't realize there would be that little difference!!! Maybe I can get away with just a set of slightly wider wheels without any leveling kit?

Though, now I may have convinced my fiancee to allow me to put at least a leveling kit if not a mild (4" or so) lift on the DMAX along with some 17" wheels to open up some more tire choices, hmm............. :bounce2:

Wheel question- will the newer Dodge 17" steel and aluminum rims fit on my 2007 Silverado Classic?
Like these?:

and these?

Of course, I would use my center caps rather than the Dodge ones!
Thinking about these to upgrade wheel size to 17" for cheap but not be running as wide of a wheel as an H2 takeoff is. Will they work?
Thanks!
