Towing with a 97 4Runner Limited

Officially, I believe this forerunner has a 5000 pound towing capacity but wondering about the practical side of towing with it. Does anybody have experience with towing with this type forerunner. We’re looking at a small hybrid camper that weighs about 3000 pounds and we need to tow it to the mountains, up Black-mountain. Thoughts?

I assume it's the 3.4l?
I'd think 3k should be fine. Just don't be in a hurry.

Test drove one a few years back seemed torquey enough for a small trailer like that .

I asked this question a few months back. I was pulling probably at least 3k pounds including the trailer. You'll know its back there but it can handle it.....but I didn't have to climb anything like Black Mountain either. I have an external trans cooler on mine and trailer brakes were also a big help so thats something to consider too.

pulled a 3500lb pop-up with my '97 5spd v6, it did well, added brake controller to manage the stopping and THAT was even better. pulling it isn't the hard part, stopping it is.
