TPMS

On the car. Maybe.
If you still have it September 1 let me know.
Pretty good chance we will, until i know more about the truck, I won't advertise it and I need to have the car detailed before that happens.

I have a tire machine at my house in raleigh your welcome to come use for free I have never has any problems out of my toyota sensors over the last 10 years I think there worth the money I am scatter brained and it keeps me from spending money on blown tires

Don't waste any money detailing it for Ron's benefit.

Ha, well, when the time comes, we'll see If he's still interested. It may get Carmax'd or some similar deal, I dunno yet. not sure I want to deal with Craigslist BS

Josh, I may take you up on that at some point, thanks for the offer.

Oh Boy, here goes, I'm really gonna look silly ( more so than I already do ? ) now.

I went back and checked all the tires again, but I used a different tire gauge, and 2 of the 5 were just below the threshold ( seems to be about 22-24psi) the rest were just below 30. I usually set them at 32 front 35 rear, 35 on the spare, seems the gauge I used last week is a POS. went back and checked them again with the original gauge and it now reads higher than the one I rechecked with. so, it goes in the shit can.

Light has reset, no dash warning lights illuminating at all, says a lot for a vehicle with 255k on the clock.

SO, I guess the system gets a reprieve, and I need to refresh my stash of tire pressure gauges, tools wear out, go bad, some are of questionable quality to begin with.

I pay enough attention to my junk I can tell when a tire is slack

I'm just going to leave these here.:flipoff2:

The Exploder is supposed to be 35 minimum, light comes on right around 30, so well before you'd notice it was squishy, but above the point where the tire might overheat and delaminate.

it's a vehicle I'm still getting the feel of, I think I've put 250 miles on it since I brought it home, it feels mushy, which is why I went and rechecked the tires again today, mushy could also be worn ass struts/shocks ( entirely likely at 255k ) rides very different from the 4Runner with slightly modified suspension SR5 with Limited springs all the way around air bags in rear springs, tire pressures are 35 front/44 rear currently cuz I was hauling camper last weekend, and even more so than the Camry ( tires set at 35 )
oh, and the door sticker calls for 29psi cold on front and rear tires. on this ride, '97 4Runner is same

I used a different gauge on the truck than I did on the Runner/Camry/work van, it was handy and it appears that it was junk.

Ford would set theirs high, after all, it's Ford and Firestone that caused all this crap to be mandatory on passenger cars to begin with.

The sensors in my old Chevy work van were set to trip @ 64psi, on a cold day the light would come on and you'd drive for a couple miles then the light go off, tire pressure went up above 65, of course that van you could read each tire pressure. it doesn't appear this Ford I'm in now has TPMS, has rubber stems, but I guess it could have banded sensors inside the wheel. I keep the tires at 70psi front 72 rear, loaded to about 8400lbs with me in it, any higher and it rides like shit and is real twitchy in the steering ( 29000 miles )

Just to follow up on my issues earlier, went to Discount Tire, they scanned the car, no sensors, so they said the tire stem sensors they sell would work, even though I had been led to believe (through forums) that I needed the band style sensors.

The stem sensors worked, so far. They installed and tested, and if I have further problems, then they will take care of it.

Now I can sell it.

And the cause of the light is in fact the TPMS sensor seal.

Soaped the stems and sure enough the seal(s) are apparently aged enough they need attention.

Priced at a tire store ( discount tire as they show the pricing ) $8 per wheel

$2.13 each. Not the cheapest, nor the most expensive. Rock Auto

Keep it in mind when you're doing tires on equipped vehicles. ( look up for your vehicle, some are different )

We are actually selling TPMS service kits for sensors like those with tires now as an option. Seen several sensors leaking at the seals lately, I guess they are just getting brittle.
