I've got to drive up to Chicago in 2 weeks to pick up a Land Rover and bring it home. I used to have friends with trailers back in the day, but I've either lost touch with those friends (and I'm not about to call them out of the blue for a favor) and the one trailer I could use hasn't been touched in years, so I'm reluctant to take that on a 1500 mile whirlwind road trip.

I know Uhaul does rentals but I don't know that I trust Uhaul to provide a trailer that could handle that trip either, but maybe I'm just being paranoid.

Anyone has an recommendations on other alternatives for renting a trailer so I can make the trip to bring this truck home?

United rentals has tilt deck and equipment trailers for rent. I haven't ever rented one, but they always appear to be in decent shape when I'm at one of their yards picking something up.

Stop being paranoid  Derek and I flew to Houston and rented a 9ft box truck and car hauler to bring his buggy back. Great thing about it. is if it fails in any way, it's ALL on uhaul. They have to come out and roadside assist you and bring you a new trailer. You can't lose in that bet.
BTW...the roads from Houston the Louisiana line make the roads in the Gaza strip look like fresh pavement, and Derek could break an anvil. If their rental combo survived that trip yours will be a cake walk. (I don't envy you and you views of all that corn)
